i would have to say that i am. when i was young, i was reading above my grade level and since then, i tend to read everything and anything i can get my hands on including encyclopedias and yes, even the dictionary. i typically read non fiction because i am a history fanatic and usually read a couple of books at a time. i just finished a book on the lusitania (and the sinking thereof) and now i am reading a book on vietnam (the war). i typically read at night but also read on the bus and to that end i sometimes read pocketbooks and am reading message from nam by danielle steel. what about you? have you read the dictionary lately? how many books do you read at a time? what are you reading right now? any other history lovers out there?

I used to be an avid reader, I took after my nan she was always reading a book! Then along came the internet and my reading more or less came to a dramatic halt. I had to read research books when I was in college, but they are not the same and I saw those as educational and not books that you can just relax and read at leisure. I am currently reading, (don't laugh!) Harry Potter, after seeing the 6th film which I feel wasn't up to much, I find the book far more enjoyable. I like fantasy, horror and detective novels. I do feel that when life gets you down, it's great to escape realism and jump into fantasy and jump into the story and be one of the parts in the story.

The internet has also got me to read less in book format, but I do read a lot of articles and such on the Internet. As for Harry Potter, yes the book is way better, as they changed so much in the movie.

I started reading when I was three, before I was even in school. I think it was because my mom and Nana used to read to my sister and me constantly. I would read anything I could get my hands on, especially when I hit my teenage years. I'd have five books going on at one time, although now days I limit myself to two books at a time.

I love to read...sometimes I read 2 books at the same time. The thing is I can never part with them...they are like friends and family to me. I started reading when I was four and in fact I still have my very first book, Messy, that my Mom bought me. My books have comforted me and offered me an escape throughout my life when things were rough. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

Yes, I am. My mom said, when I was 3, I was reading the dictionary and learning the spelling already! I think papers with words on it really intrigues me because I can enter a total imaginary land through reading. Good day.^_^

It seems that I'm almost always reading. When I was younger I never left the house without a book and spent almost all my free time reading. I even remember when I decided that I needed to start carrying around more than one book with me. My parents always went to HS football games and sometimes the drive was really long. I finished the book I had brought right as we reached the stadium and was devastated because I didn't have anything else to read during the game (which I watched on and off while reading), half time and on the way back. After that I was determined to always have a really long book or more than one with me. With the coming of the internet I find that I do a lot of reading of articles and stories online as well as ebooks. But I still read my physical books. It's actually more satisfying finishing a printed book then one on the computer. I tend to have anywhere from three to twelve books going at a time. Rarely that many, but normally at least six. Right now I'm actually over twelve. I read a mixture of non-fiction and fiction. Which means I generally always have at least one poetry book going, two books on writing, generally three to six fiction books, and normally one to four books on history, mythology, religion, folklore and sociology. I'll flip through a dictionary, but I like sitting down with my Roget's International Thesaurus, sixth edition. I also have a copy of the third edition that was my father's... till I borrowed it indefinitely in high school. I've looked at many thesauruses and this one is by far my favorite.

Reading is not my favorite thing to do. My eyes have always been a problem and my attention span can't go an entire book no matter how good the book is or what it's about. Guess it's simply a lack of interest. When I was a kid, the doctor told my mother to read to me and not let me strain my eyes reading. Now I have cataracts and struggle to read smaller print since it's blurred. Am not considered blind or anything of that nature just have problems reading. I'd rather work on a craft or be on the computer.

I'm not much of a history lover to be truthful. Now, my sister is. She's going for a degree in history and loves to read anything historical. I'm more of a fantasy, science fiction, and fiction lover myself. Always a reader of that really. Sometimes I can read up to two or more novels at a time. Unfortunately I get the story lines mixed up after that.

Yes I am. I adore reading and try to get my hands on as many books as possible. I'm not a history buff, but I do like encyclopedias and dictionaries and books that can boost my vocabulary...as a writer, this is very important to me. Right now I'm re-reading a childhood favorite inbetween chapters of two other books, one on genetics and another on societal collapse. At most I read three at a time. Usually I read just one.

So Many books,so little time...I discovered the school library when young and never looked back! I don't have a particular preference of book, but I'll read just about anything, and I like having books recommended or loaned to me by friends and family..I could usually keep about 3 books at a time on the go,but now I try to read them consecutively instead of in rotation

Hi friend, I love to read true crime stories. Unfortunately, I will get about a page read and fall asleep, every time. So I end up trying to read the book about 10 times. Eventually I give up. Keep on reading!! Cheryl

That is one word I absolutely love! Voracious! This definitely applies to me! I absolutely love books, I just cannot get enough of them. I tend to read several books simultaneously so I guess this makes me a very voracious reader! I mainly read fiction as I love the pure escapism aspect of this! Only recently I decided to start reading autobiographys about the lives of some famous people and it's a welcome change. I'm not too keen on reference books but, whatever reading is done, it's a tremendous help towards the improvement of vocabulary. My favorite author is Stephen King but I also like Danielle Steel, I love her books! In actual fact I'm reading a book right now written by her called 'Safe Harbour', I don't know whether you have heard of this one! Anyway, it's a great read and I love the characters, it actually feels as though I am in the book with them and I think that this is what makes a good book. I can't say that I'm that interested in history although I think I read a book about the Roman Gladiators once upon a time! I have a book on the luxurious Titanic! There are lots of lovely photos and real life accounts from survivors! So, am I a voracious reader? I would have to offer a very big resounding yes!!! Andrew

I am not a history lover, but I am really a voracious reader. I am fond of various type of book, such as literature, sience fition, popular sience. when i was young, i almost read evey day, Sometime, I can not hear what others say when I was reading. Once, My head hit the tree because I was reading while walking. "bookworm" is the moniker others call me. Now my work is very busy, but I still spent much time in reading. I think reading is an enjoyable thing.

I love to read, but I do not seem to find the time for it as much as I used to. I like to read a lot of genres, but my favorites are history, historical fiction, and mysteries. Lately I have been into themed mysteries, especially culinary ones. I just finished one by Joanne Fluke and am now onto a historical mystery. I think it is called Murder in Milltown or something like that.

I have a pretty huge library. I just finished "The Year's Best Science Fiction 2007", haven't decided what I'm going to pick up next. But I have a HUGE backlog. I do love history, but I read more Science Fiction and Fantasy than anything.

I'm quite the reader, have been for as long as I can remember. Yes, I remember the days when I would be bored and get out the encyclopedia just to read it. I've read magazines that I find laying around. I've even had times when I read the ingredients on a can or whatever. Just something to keep my mind occupied. I don't particularly have a favorite genre to read, but mostly I stick to fiction for the simple fact that it lets my imagination run wild.
