Should Teenagers wear makeup before age sixteen

When I was fourteen I began wearing makeup, not lip gloss and eye shadow but the whole works. I have a niece who is now fifteen and despite the allowances I had at her age, I cannot advise her mother to allow her to wear makeup so early. She is mad at me because she has seen pictures from the family album and thinks I am expressing a double standard. I do not agree that it was the best thing for me, I appeared way to grown up and was the focus of a couple of predators, fortunately times were different and calling me names and spreading rumors that I was easy was handled swiftly and harshly. The parents of those concerned were called in and they were suspended. In my Niece's school, they have predators and they have ways of hiding on the internet in chat rooms that the kids visit. The protection of children is more difficult. I guess she will have to be angry with me for a while.

I don't see anything wrong with teenagers wearing makeup. It would depends on the situation, how you deal with the make ups themselves and if the make up could boost up your confidence, why not? I have seen many teenagers in my country wearing make ups when they were going to the mall or the party with friends, I don't think it was wrong. It was appropriate, time and place, and I think they are okay with the make ups on their face. But your worry is acceptable. Girls with make ups would be more attractive and can bring them to troubles when they're not ready to it. I think you're just being preventive, so I would suggest you to tell them about your worrying thought. I hope they would understand about it.
