Should we ask Mylot to post a final comments section at discussion's end?

Hey friend, I've been doing some thinking. Been watching the way the discussions have been going. I've seen where some discussions could literally run on into eternity if we don't ever stop them. So what do you all think about it if we send Mylot admin. a letter or notice asking them if we could have a final comment's section at the end of the discussion. It would be up to the discussion starter to stop the decide when the final discussion would be posted. I'm thinking it should be write at the end..........Please give me some feedback, okay friends? For example it could go something like this: Thank you all for participating but this is the end of this discussion.

[b]Hi Cutychic/b] I think the longer the discussion going, it would be better Last night I respond to a discussion that started 7 month ago! But the topic interesting for me, so I type my respose.. Don't you think if, you've already post final comments, and there's someone who attracted with your discussion title come in and he/she see your final comment, he will feel disappointed because you no longer need response.. Why you no longer need response? Personally, I will feel happy if there's someone who respond to my old discussion. It's like a surprise to me. If you think post final comments is the best for you, I think you can do it in your ordinary comment at the last response.. but maybe they won't read it.. hmmm..just tell myLot admin your suggestion, maybe they will consider about it and make it! But I won't use it

Hummm, how did you make that bold ChrysanTflower? Anyhow, I hear what you are saying and I've already commented to a few of the previous responders that perhaps I was thinking about this all in the wrong manner when I first raised the discussion. Please feel free to look up to a few of the previous post and you will see what I mean. The main problem that I was having my friend is that I was beginning to get an overload of emails being sent to my email box. Now I don't know if this has happened to any of the rest of you mylotters yet. But I can say that when it does happen, it's not an easy solution to have fixed. So just wait and see if it starts happening to you. Which I hope that it won't. But if it does then you will see what I mean and you will see the reason why I started the discusssion. Keep on mylotting babygirl!

Oh, after see your comment in previous response I see your point now Citychic! I wonder how can I misunderstand what do you really mean.. I think that's the consequences of starting so many discussion in a day You're right, since you try to start around 7, each of them can get 10 or 20 or more responses and that flooding your inbox with email notification. Sometimes you feel bored or have nothing to say anymore on one of your discussion and just wanna leave it, move into new discussion and see how long that one live after you leave it,,am I right? Well, if that's the case, I think it's okay. it's your choice and personally I feel confuse too if my inbox full of notifications Let me know how long that one live..

I have been known to go back and add replies to older discussions, so i would not like them closed out. On slow days when nothing much is going on i will go back and see what i can find, and i just might bring some life back to a old discussion.

Hello i do not start very many discussions, i just like replying to them, so i do not have a very difficult time at all, I find it much easier doing it that way. But when you start a discussion it is a good idea to make replies to everyone, that way they know that you are reading them, and they will like participating in other discussions that you have started. have a good night.............

Thanks my friend, you are making perfect sense also and I can see that you are on your j-o-b and not over there sleeping. Personally speaking I had never quite thought of it like that before. I guess the only think that I'm thinking of now is how in the world we'll ever be able to keep up with it all. I mean so far I've posted so many discussions that it's not even funny and maybe I will post a few more before the time is up. I usually try to post about seven a day but then it's starting to get to the point where one single discussion may get about 50 responses. Then if really take my time to try to answer each one of them, well you could see how it could start to take up a good bit of time, right?

Since myLot compensates its members for their participation, I don't think they would want to give a user the right to end or close a discussion. Discussion topics are open here for as long as someone has interest in them or has something of value to contribute. The discussion starter may decide they are done with the subject but perhaps other people would like to continue to post (and also earn from their posting). Allowing people to close a discussion could also be a feature that could be abused. Consider a case where someone would open one, allow their friends to quickly post replies and then close it to any more posting. This would allow their friends to earn but no one else would have the same opportunity. I know there are many other topics to respond to but just offering an example :) There is a lot of difference between forums that pay and forums that don't (when they don't, closing threads is actually pretty common).

Why thank you a lot for that well thought out response thinkingoutloud. That is the reason why I love mylot. It's like i could be thinking of something and then other mylotters can show us different ways of looking at a particular situation or subject. What you were saying made perfect sense after I thought about it. So I decided to go on and add you as a friend because it's clear to me that you aren't just sitting somewhere strumming your fingers. You have a purpose for being here at mylot and that purpose isn't just to make money. You are hear to offer sound advice. So keep mylotting and keep learning and growing. I'm happy to know you are here.

Awww you're very sweet and I thank you for your kind comments. I really appreciate that. It's hard, sometimes, when you have an opinion to offer that is somewhat contrary to the discussion starter. I don't like to offend and try hard not to. I think the best thing we can do is to be honest, offer our thoughts and hope the person we are responding to will take them in the spirit that we intend them. :)

Oh you're welcomed my friend, I agree with you considerably. I think that we should always open up and speak our minds, then if someone happens to disagree with what we've said, all we have to do is say "Sorry that you disagree". Mind you, we are all different thinkingoutloud. Very different, no two of us are alike. So of course we are all going to have differencing opinions from time to time. But when it get to the place where two people can no longer even talk to one other. Well all I can say is that this would be a sad situation indeed. One person should always have the courage to speak up. While the other should have the sense to back up. And btw, keeping quiet isn't exactly a bad things. As certain situations may just call for it. Mutual respect is the key to any good relationship. Kisses!

Offline a discussion can go on forever with new angles being added to thoughts already spoken, It's the same here. A topic is never closed and can go on for years so I see no point in implementing your suggestion. As pointed out in other responses, there are negative aspects to it too. Many topics are never closed and never go out of date either so there is no reason to ever consider them as 'closed' at all.

Hi Citychic. I think the admin keeps track with inappropriate discussions. There are also mylotters who report unhealthy or unbecoming compositions. With the lengthy conversations mylotters deem wise to participate, I believe it is their prerogative. Just let them enjoy sharing their two cents' worth. Otherwise, they might invoke their right to freedom of speech and expression.

Thank you my friend, I see your point and you're making a very good comment. I happen to agree with you and I'm sure that mylot is keeping excellent track of what all is traveling across the world wide web network. Now as far as discussions being inappropriate and all of that it's not what I was really concerned about. My main point was the fact that once i get tired of chatting about a certain topic then I'm moving on to the next most interesting thing. So I was just curious as to how long the topic should remain opened? Do you feel me on this one, my friend? (Do you get my point?)

Nope, i don't think il agree with that. it would limit the numbers of response and that is no fun in mylot. don't worry you're not the online who recommend something in mylot that was rejected later on...by it's members

Hmm, the only benefit I can see in doing that is to the discussion starter because it would stop him/her having to keep going back to respond to comments left. There again it would also mean he/she is no longer earning money from the discussion. It also presumes that a discussion "belongs" to the discussion starter which I don't really agree with. Once a discussion is started on here it's out there for other myLot members to do what they please with it. So although I can see where you're coming from with this, on balance I don't think it's a good idea.

Hey stiletto, you still here girl? Well what I was saying right before I lost my message was that I couldn't argue with what you had said. You brought out a good point. It was well thought out and all I can say at this point is that you're absolutely right. It would just be best to allow the discussion to remain open. Now may I ask you how you happened to get color on your profile page and also I just wanted to add that there were a few other things that I had seen on your page and admired. So I just wanted to let you know that I thought you were doing a great job over there, keep up the good work, added you as a friend, hope we can continue to support each other. Best wishes to you. Happy mylot.

Still here although not that much nowadays. I haven't done anything with my profile page for ages and just took a look and realised my music player isn't working and neither are a couple of other things so I need to spend some time on it I think. Will mess around with it to remind myself of how I did it and then let you know. Thanks for the friends request which I accepted!

There are some discussions that actually this would be nice to do, or like on other Forum type sites you could somehow have your discussion locked if you feel it is time to end it so no one else could even respond back to it. But for people like me who have been here almost 3 yrs. I sometimes find my older discussions still being responded back too once in a while, so I don't think anything here would change too much, but if enough people were to suggest this the least myLot admin could do is think about it.

Thank you very much for bringing this comment forth my friend. You are making a very good point. Soon I will offer a best response and we will see if how that move begin to affect things. Otherwise I will just sit back and hope the responses keep on rolling on in here so that I can continue to roll in the dough. As it's no skin off my teeth. As a matter of fact. Now that I'm starting to gain a broader perspective on this thing. I can honestly say that i don't care if 181 million of them come on in here. Come on mylot baby, come on and make this momma's day Wow, have you really been here at mylot for 3 years KrauseHome? Congratulation! You ought to be very knowledgeable concerning this site by now huh? Keep mylotting!

No, I wouldn't think we would need to end them. It's not like we have to respond each time we get a response from a mylotter. And besides that, we still make money when people post quality responses to our old discussions. It doesn't bother me, especially now that the old discussions don't go to the top of the list on our profile pages.

point well taken, thanks for participating. I've made up my mind that from now on I'm only going to respond to the commentors that give at least a four liner. If this is what i'm producing I would just appreciate the same thing back in return. As for the discussion that I've posted here I'm just going to have to let it ride with the tide for the time being. As everybody will just have to do whatever is best for them. take care! happy mylot!

I disagree. I like taking a look at the old stuff from ages ago and that is what makes browsing on MyLot fun in my opinion. I do wish we could delete discussions that have had zero responses and have been sitting idle for six months or more though.

I think this is a good idea. That way, we'll know which discussions to delete later on. I counted all of the discussions I've started since I joined in march and have 60 of them! There were a few that didn't get any responses. However, with the help of one of my mylot friends, I was able to get some responses to them. I just haven't deleted them yet because I thought later on I might get more responses to them. Kathy.

I'm doing okay but I've been having trouble with my sormach off and on. It just goes and comes. I wonder if there is a virus going around. I'm thinking about going o a Lady's Inspiration Day in the morning at one of the congregations here in Jasper if I'm feeling up to it. I hate to miss it because it's been so good in the past. This might be a better idea. I've also been thinking that when we post responses that it would be better if we could see the response we're posting to so we won't forget to answer any questions that might have been asked. Does that make sense? In other words, mylot should show the last response that was posted instead of the first one. Kathy.

Sounds like a plan to me, have not had the problem of so many post that can go on/on/no lol, but it is true I guess when does it end, maybe mylot can make it so you can only have 5 pages worth of discussions, this way if someone tries to respond to a discussion you get the message this discussion is now closed. like for me I am new so I am responding to friends post that have been posted how long ago, this way I wont feel that it is o.k to go so far back, because I know that after a few pages discussions are closed good idea, great post.

Thnx very much Kitty42, I am sorry but I changed my mind about closing the discussion after so many post. A few of the other mylotters have been able to convince me that it's not a good idea, as our funds are higher with the more responders that we get. I'm still kind of new here myself, so I'll admit that I don't know everything. But the way you presented your case sounds very convincing also. So at this point in the game I guess I'm just going to have to try to take a neutral stand on it we'll see what happens. BTW, welcome to the Mylot community. In the beginning it can really be a lot of fun. The main thing here is to just try to pace yourself. So this way you don't wind up getting burned out. My email box was starting to overflow and that's how come I didn't know what else to suggest. But since i learned that it's actually a good thing for everyone to be responding to you like this, then I'm just going to keep on starting the discussions and whether I can actually take the time to respond back to everyone or not, well that might have be an issue that I will have to tackle at another time. Anyhow, please add me as friend and let me know if I can be of any help to you. Hopefully you are well on your way by now and you are seeing how I'm writing you a nice long comment. This is the exact same thing that you must try to do with all of your responders. Also write long discussions and then one day your inbox will be flooding over too. Don't forget about me when you're rolling in the dough okay my new friendGood luck and may God bless you to have a nice long successful business here at Mylot!

AWWWWW, what a magnificent response to my post, thank you so much, I am trying to hang in there, right now I respond more than anything, I have a goal today to make 200 lol, its already 10;50 so I have to hurry lol, my email is already flooded with responses I respond from my heart and I think posters can tell, so they reply and I respond back. I would usually write a little more but right now I have a goal, so I will respond now to the post in my email, that will give me like 15 and I will have 200 before you know it, I would love to be your friend, thank you for asking, have a wonderful evening, you will hear from me again real soon, smoochess Oh I need to start discussions as well, I will do that when I get the 200 I am aiming for.

That's a great idea my friend, thanks for suggesting it. It's funny that I had kind of forgotten all about we could always offer a best response. Then that would surely be the thing to stop so many commentors from coming in. Not that I really want to stop it but I'm just trying to figure out a way to sensibly play catch up. Anyways, i think that you may have just now offered a very good solution. Thanks for that! TTYL!

Personally I dont like the idea, being that sometimes I cant find a discussion that I like that has been posted for awhile OR I run out of discussions so I go back some. I have found interesting ones as far back as 4 months. I also think some would close the discussion out way to fast. Some of us can only get on once in awhile.

Nuh I think its better for members to just select best response, and end discussions when there ready, because what if it takes more time for a topic to recive a responds, and if there's a time limit or mylot ends the topic at a set time then it may lower the chances for that topic to recive a responds, and besides with all do respect to mylot and the mylot community, I think that mylot has enough rules and limitations. and when a topic ends should be left up to the poster by giving best responds.

Point well taken my friend, I will get ready to end this one soon. If you read a few of the previous post here you will see that many other mylotters have made the exact same comment as you have. In my opinion that is what sort of making things kind of boring but I will just go on and give a best response and move on to the next discussion but thanks for your addition to the discussion. Now how'd you like dem Apples? happy mylot!
