What is the best hairstyle for an interview?

What is the best way for a girl to do her hair for an interview? I have long hair and for every interview I have ever had I have just kept my hair down and straight. I was wondering if this is a good thing to do? Or should I pull it up in a bun or something? Thanks.

Buns are pretty fool proof. When they are clean cut and simple, it shows you put time into your appearance, but you're not immature to come with something inappropriate.

That's what I was thinking. I want to show that I care about my appearance, but I am professional. Thanks for the advice.

I never could get my hair to stay in a bun so I ended up giving up on it. I am so glad when I found those clips that look like claws because they were fast and efficient to give someone a professional look without alot of time or problems of it falling out.

Just nothing wild. Stay conservative. If I interview someone with pink highlights then I think to myself I wonder what else they take risks on? If they have piercings on their face - what else would they do? Always present a clean, respectable, conservative front during your interview unless of course you are interviewing for something that calls more more like working for a punk rock band :) Know your audience!

Yeah I know all about non-natural colors and piercings. I think it is unfortunate that people judge based on that though because looks don't truly say what kind of worker the person is, but that's just the way it is. Businesses do like conservative best though. Thanks for the input.

I have long hair too and my advice would be to put it up in a neat bun. As others have said it will look neat and professional and it will save you worrying about how tidy it looks before walking in the interview. Good luck with it!

Well if you straight hair, you can use a claw to hold it together. If you are travelling by public transport, this is a nad idea. Your hair will look unkempt when you reach your destination. You can braid your hair otherwise. It will look neat and professional.

I have long straight hair also. I usually put it in a half ponytail or a bun. I could never go without it pulled back somehow otherwise it would look a mess. I actually have a interview Sat and with this heat it is going in a bun. I am finding it hard to style right now because I am growing out my bangs so I have been wearing a headband, so I hope the bun and headband look ok for Sat. Good Luck with your job search!

Thanks good luck to you too. I think a headband will look fine with a bun.

I guess it would all depend on the job really. But alot of people prefer the hair to be up for interviews since it shows a touch of professionalism and a seriousness. So maybe putting it up in a hair clip those that look like a claw would work for you. Good luck on the interview also.

My hair is pretty basic; straight, shoulder length, and simple. I don't do anything with it except get up in the morning and brush it. my hair is this way for job interviews, sitting around the house, or formal occasions. My hair is like a pair of basic black shoes; it goes with everything.

I have very long hair too and in the past when I was working I always had my hair just nicely combed and down. Personally, I think that if you put your hair in a bun that would make you look too severe like a librarian or something and I don't think that look would look natural for most women. Maybe in the old day, yes, but, nowadays, it would look like you're trying to be something you're not. At least that's my opinion. Good luck with your job interview! Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija

the best hairstyle is a ponytail.it looks neat and not distracting.your hair should not distract your interviewer.also,if you are fiddling with your hair during the interview, the interviewee might think that,"this person is distracted.s/he might not focus on the job".a neat ponytail is sleek and professional.
