Upon entering London, UK. People become incredibly rude. FACT or MYTH?

Camden - London explained in the matter of a few street signs.

Now, I live just to the West of London but am originally from the North East of England. Just recently I have returned back from Holiday in which I travelled back to my old home town up North. Upon meeting the people there I can say that what I expected was what I experienced. Kind natured and warm people. The holiday was fantastic, and all was well.. Until we then had to travel back through London to return home. Instantly upon entering the outskirts of London, people on the bus started acting weird. As if they answered to no-one. It could have been the excitement of being near home for them, but I think something deeper and darker was at work. Leaving the bus, I must have been shoulder barged 6 times in the space of 5 minutes. Someone held the door open for someone in front of me, then upon me trying to go through...the person just let go of the door...nearly wiping me and the missus out. Also I've noticed that the students think they own the place. I could go on for hours. We left London and returned home, and everything was back to normal. Does anyone have any opinions? Or is it just common knowledge nowadays that people living in the 'BIG SMOKE' are absolute morons?I'm a little bitter because I am a northerner, but this is far beyond the North/South divide. This is something that surely causes grief to all visitors.

Well, man. Look. Nowadays a lot of people are rude, you can very hard find a person, who will be nice to you. So.. No more words.

This is a half truth, but I have seen more of it in London than anywhere in the world. I did actually live in London for a while too, so have experience of this ridiculous behaviour first hand. :(
