Lie on the bed you made!

When republicans in early 2000s rallied for support for the Patriot Act II, they made it look like anyone who would not support something with the word "PATRIOT" was anti-American. And when W. Bush passed MEHPA, they made it look like they simply cared for the well-being of the nation and of those they have (or would like to) eliminate because of their difference in opinion. Well, while the Patriot Act II took away your civil rights, MEHPA gave government officials the right to decide what health care you should get? Terry Shrivel was MEHPA in action! Did you know that in the event of a declared emergency under MEHPA, real or imaginary, refusal to comply with command of government officials constitutes a crime and results in quarantine? Interestingly, in the former USSR, Scientists and Thinkers who would not share the views of the government were put in mental institutions as a form of punishment! Now, lie on the bed that you made! And if you just woke up from your sleep and realized the effects/implications of the web that you weaved, then you can consult with law scholars on how to help unweave your weave!

Great post Net. The problem is that you will be attacked because you are going after Geroge W. Bush, who is pretty much a "god" on here. When you attack their "god", they get really mad (but then they will tell you that they didn't support him, NO ONE on her supported Geroge W. Bush) and attack you. It is almost comical.

Niether Obama, Pelosi or Reid have ever once acted to end the patriot act. It is as much their's now as it ever was Bush's.

LMFAO, Ted, do you realized that you just proved my point? Now everyone can see how comical right wing republicans are on here. They voted for Bush before they voted again for him. But, NEVER SUPPORED him.

Agreed, we need to turn back the Patriot Acts and MEHPA. We also need to keep our current administration from further eroding our civil liberties. A two pronged attack is needed to give us back our rightful liberties.

Not to sound uninformed but apparently you know what MEPHA is. Could you enlighten myself on what that is?

It's the Model Emergency Health Powers Act. It gives the states scary powers in the event of medical crisis.

Yup, I remember being caught up in the post 9/11 hyseria and much to my regret, I was willing to back Bush in pushing through legislation without taking time for debate and discussion. But fool me once, my fault, fool me twice, my fault. I learned my lesson from that experience. I learned that no legislation is so important that time can't be taken out for discussion and debate. I learned that it is a sign of corruption when politicians decide a bill is more important than our political system. Much of the acts you cite have been struck down as unconstitutional. Most of the fear mongering that occured never came to pass. Have there been any arrests for non compliance with evacuation orders for any natural disaster since the passing of these bills? I agreed with Bush and supported him most of the time, however, I also realized something about myself and our system at that time. I learned that it is important for those who oppose a politician to speak out against them, but it is also important for those who support them to speak out when we disagree with them. No politician, party, ideology, bill, or issue is so important that We the People need to be silenced so it can come to pass.

Thanks! I'll also add that; neither Obama, Pelosi or Reid have ever once acted to end the patriot act. It is as much their's now as it ever was Bush's.

One has to be careful. The Patriot Act was passed for a specific situation, 9/11 and the threat from terrorists. So once the threat was over, it should have been repealed or only used in specific cases. I do not think MEHPA a good thing, but then I am a Canadian and we have our own health system. We do not have systems where if you belong to one system you cannot get, but then we do. The trouble with passing these laws is that there is someone who goes a little further. So why is the MEHPA bad and the Obama health care system good? Seems they are both out of the same basket.

Suspenseful, I was simply pointing out that the health care deal in progress had its greenlight from MEHPA, passed by a republican president. I am of the opinion that both mentioned acts are very dangerous and in violation of people's individual rights. But as you can see, our outraged republicans never saw their implications when they were passed by their guy.
