The endangered California Desert Tortoises are facing another difficult moment, as the US Army wants to relocate them to make way or a tank-warfare training area.
The Center for Biological Diversity has started an online campaign to rise awareness on this delicate procedure and try stopping this action, which could irremediably harm the Desert Tortoise population.
You can also help the Desert Tortoise by telling the Bureau of Land Management to reconsider this action. You can learn more about this and take action on this site:

Thank you in the name of the Desert Tortoises!

I do not know how they can even consider doing this the Tortoises are a very determined animal, you can keep them captive for years and when turned loose they will return to their natural habitat. Maybe they have discovered some way to relocate them but I wouldn't be surprised if it just lead to their extinction.

I think that only the low number of Desert Tortoises, which attracted the wildlife organization attention, made the authorities to even consider the relocation. I think that under normal terms they simply don't care about the environmental impact of such an action... I think that such invasive initiatives are too easily solved just because the Army is involved...
Thank you for caring! I hope it will make a difference!
