This is a rant post! So bear with me! I just have to let this out! It is so irritating! If the accent is not your native one, then leave it well alone! I was attending this seminar which I paid in the hope to learn something that I cannot from the Internet or the books. The speaker is suppose to be some distinguished guest that was specially invited to a speak on the topic. When he started on his first sentence, it was obvious that he was trying to adopt an accent that is not his to begin with! He was slurring his words so bad, everyone was having a hard time trying to figure out why he was saying. As if hat was not bad enough, the topic he covered... Infomation he shared... One could easily Get off the internet just with some simple search! It was such a let down! I feel so ripped off! If only ther was some way to get my money back! But here wherei am, where the consumer unions tell consumer "buyer beware", there is no chance that I'll be able to get anything back! This is so frustrating! Money, as it is, is alredy darn hard to earn. To be ripped off by some rich "expert"? Makes it harder to swallow! Must make note never go to any more of this guy's seminar, paid or otherwise! Grrr....!

IS he a local?? hehe ^_^ Well, u have already gone for that, and it's too late for regrets.. haha =D That's how most ple are, trying to act someone whom they are completely different from.. PLus, most singaporeans likes to slang, when they are speaking in english, especially those being eductaed somewhere out there.. lol =D Some seminars are just a waste of money and time, thus do not attend any, if there's no recommendation by anybody.. hehe

That would make me mad too. When you pay good money for an educational experience..that is what you expect to get. Is there anyway that you can research or get an outline of a seminar before attending? I have never thought of it before but it wouldn't be a bad idea if you could.

I usually will do research. But the problem is, if you are not familiar with the area of expertise that this person is in, you will never know whether he is good on not. Cos not ever speaker who is invited to seminars will get reviews posted on the net. And this particular seminar that I attended, is just one such example. His credentials are good, which gives no reason for me to doubt his ability to deliver prior to my attending his talk!

I am one who always invest in something which I regret later. Knowing that I can get good recipes from the net I still pay my way to attend cooking/baking classes conducted by people who doesn't even know the right way of cooking but only following instructions from the recipes which anybody can do and probably recipes they extracted from the net. I am a much better cook then those who come in to rip others. Learn a lesson or two from here.

Yeah, which makes it so frustrating to have spent money to only find out that you could have gotten better value for the money spent by doing the research yourself! To think these people could become instructors. I too can become one if I only need to perform the basics and still get paid for it. Sigh...
