In the book of Deuteronomy, Chapter 5 and verses 12 to 15 we read the commandment regarding the keeping of the Sabbath. It is very clear and the fact that it is explained so thoroughly shows that it was considered important. As is often the case however, man decides to makes changes and by the time of Jesus it had been changed so much that Jesus commented, "The Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath". Why do you think that particular commandment was given in the first place, and what did Jesus mean by that statement?

To my understanding, the Sabbath or Lord's Day is the day of rest following the creative labors of the Lord, which, for me, means that the age of man is the Sabbath. Whether working, resting, eating and such we are to keep it ALL holy. The day of rest for man is the seventh day after the start of the week.. So if my week of labor starts on wednesday then my day of rest is tuesday.

Well I feel that god created the world, he had chosen a day for rest that is the seventh day......and I feel the entire concept of sabbath come from here......even in those days there was something called as work and people used to labor day in and day out in fields, in their workplace, etc.......and they dint really have that much of time to spend in prayers, and hence maybe god decided to keep one day holy and spend it in prayers.......as the bible says prayer is a powerful tool......so sabbath is supposed to be holy...... But now we see that there are so many jobs which have a requirement for you to work i the night as well, doctors, hospitality, nurses, tourism, airlines, etc.....and you don't really get to keep sabbath holy, but I feel that even if we spend some quality time with god we have kept our sabbath holy...... well sorry to have my own interpretation about sabbath, as I don't really know too about about the biblical details on sabbath, but i just fell it this way..... Have a holy sabbath !!!!
