Do you or your neighbours celebrate Ganesha chathurthi festival? How it is celebrated? What dishes you make at home? Do you bring the Ganesha idol home?

Sorry for the late reply. I am from Kurnool and brought up in Hyderabad. Hence our practice is to bring clay made Ganesha in the morning, decorate it, do pooja, make vada, payasam and Sundal (kabuli chana boiled and made), carrot kosumari, curd pachadi and of course appalam. Even here in street corners they celebrate ganesha chathurthi for which we all contribute.

Myself and my family always celebrate Ganesh chathurthi every year. We buy a clay, hand made Idol of Ganesh very early in the morning and decorate it with flowers. Then we make some sweets, basically it is a sweet boiled momos and Vada and Gheer. Finally we do the pooja at an auspicious time. In the evening we are planning to go to the Ganesh Temple in our street, where we will be doing a grand pooja.
