Taking kids to a movie not rated PG

So you've been waiting to see this movie for days now. It's finally showing at your neighborhood theater. You buy your ticket, grab your snacks and find that perfect seat. The lights go out, you're watching trailors and suddenly through the beginning of the movie...KIDS START CRYING, yelling maybe. Throughout the movie the people on the other side of the theater are walking in and out because they can't calm their infant down or something....HOW DO YOU FEEL??? Does it upset you? Can you ignore it? Do you yell out from the top of your lungs and in the dark (lol) "be quiet"? HoLa mylotters. Just wondering this...because it happens quite often now-a-days and I have heard mixed opinions. Personally, it doesn't bother me too much, but I certainly wouldn't bring my child to the theater if I knew I wouldn't be able to enjoy it, if I knew my child needed constant attention or even if I knew it was scary and would freak them out! You?

Oh, it would DEFINITELY bother me. It would probably even piss me off. Kids do NOT belong in the theater (unless it's a kids movie). And if it's a baby, then it REALLY shouldn't be there. Kids movie or not! I can't stand it when people talk during a movie, either. I suppose this is why I hate going out to see a movie and would prefer to watch it at home and ALONE.

Yeah, exactly!! They're people who obviously have no respect for others. And I bet they even get annoyed when OTHER kids are making the noise.

Have you ever noticed that the parents of these children get upset BECAUSE OTHERS ARE YELLING AT THEM??? Oh my gosh, either way, YOUR KID ISSSSS CRYING LOUD. Why are YOU (the parent) getting mad? LoL

Hahahaha! I saw that happened one time and then the parent that had the kid and the other adult that was yelling at the mom was kicked out. I missed about 5 minutes of the movie but I think that was pretty funny.

I stopped going to movies while back.. just to expensive. And I much prefer watching them at home so I can do so calmly and rewind if I want to, stop if I need to and even watch it again if it was really good! But I do remember this happening.. I'd hate it and would want to say something, but I knew the parents wouldn't do anything about it. If they cared, they wouldn't have brought a child to an inappropriate movie. I also hated having to "relocate" to let someone out of the row as they ventured for more food or the bathroom. Coming back with hands full of food and tripping over my feet and all.. just hated that to. So now I just enjoy them at home alone or with others and make a fun evening out of it!

OHHHHH I TOTALLY GET YOU. I just can't handle the walking back and forth. I mean, did you even want to see the movie with all the trips you're taking??? To top my movie exerience off, I have to stand up to let people walk by. I just can't have all the booty swiping me accidentally. HAHAHA

I know of waht you speak!!!! I am short, so I could pull my legs in to let them by, annoying as it was, but doing that, holding my own popcorn and drink and trying to keep my eyes on the movie so I didn't miss anything... just to much work to enjoy the show!!!

I can see several sides to this and firstly if a movie is not rated suitable for children I don't care how old they are, even a baby, they shouldn't be in that screening full stop. But I also feel that a couple should be able to watch an appropriately certificated movie and not be penalised for having a children. As long as they act in a manner sympathetic to those around them who have come to watch a movie and not listen to a kid crying. So in that case I feel that if they can't control the child then they should leave rather than spoil it for everyone else. I know that when I was younger my parents would have rather taken me out of the cinema rather than spoil it for everyone else. Finally, this is actually one of the many reasons why I don't go to the cinema much these days, as some parents act in a manner which is not sympathetic to those around them whilst watching a movie and don't care if they spoil it for everyone else.

Oh my gosh!! This is one of the reasons I don't go to movies very often. Why on earth people would think it's a good idea to bring a young child or infant to an obviously adult-oriented movie (or at least a movie geared toward an older crowd, I didn't mean to use the term "adult" in the sense that we usually hear it in..) It's beyond me. The MINUTE a baby starts screaming is the minute that I walk out of the theater and go into another movie that's playing..Just to get away from the noise. Oh my.

THAT'S SUCKS! I literally watched a guy get up and say "oh my god, are you kidding me?". I WAS LIKE..... :O LoL He walked right out. I don't know what happened to him, but no one should lose their seat during a movie geared towards adult content, such as what you have said...what can we do, you know...

Aboslutely I hate it! Why the heck would you bring a little infant and a 5 year old kid to a R-Rated movie? The movie is scary as hell, and it also has some dirty scenes in it. It is the middle of the exciting part and then some kid starts whaling and crying his heart out! I couldn't hear the movie, and it also disrupts other audiences also. It really ignores me and I'm really glad you had brought up this topic. Just recently this has happened to me so this really relates to part of my life.

OH my gosh...I went to see BRUNO with my boyfriend and we couldn't enjoy the movie, because the row was filled with kids....KIDS! Oh my gosh, I didn't know what to do. I was so upset that each of these kids have parents and they were allowed to watch this movie. I could hardly contain my boyfriend from asking these kids why they were there UNTIL SUDDENLY...we noticed that one of them WAS THE MOM...I was like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO your children are watching this man get ....well do things that children should not being seeing at their age. I was so disgusted and furious. WHAT THE HECK IS UP WITH THAT?

It drives me nuts, while i understand that couples with children want to go out and see a movie, they can hire a babysitter or something so they don't have to bring the child along. The worst thing is the kid ALWAYS starts screaming during the best parts lol Its really hard to not go up to the parent and hand them a card with my number and be like...next time...call me and I'll babysit LMAO

I wouldn't yell and tell them to hush their child up, but I would be upset that they brought their little ones to the movies in the first place. Especially those that bring their babies and toddlers. It's not fair to the others that are trying to enjoy the movie just to have it be ruined by a screaming baby or a child that can't sit still. It may not be fair to those that are willing to risk bringing their little ones, but they should consider other peoples feelings before bringing little ones with them to places like this. I never took my kids to the theater when they were that age, even to a PG movie. I waited until they were older so that they could enjoy it too. Heck, as it is I took my oldest for the first time only a few months ago and here he is 12 years old. As he is autistic I didn't know how he would react to going to a theater so I never bothered to take him before this. Turns out he did exceptionally well. He watched the movie all the way through and behaved a lot better than I thought he would. Speaking of movie theaters, one thing that bothers me is when I find a seat and a few minutes later a person wearing a rather large hat sits directly in front of me so I can only see a small part of the screen. This only happened a couple of times, but it was so annoying. The last time it happened I pretended to have a coughing fit in hopes that they would move to a different seat. Fortunately for me it worked. Happy mylotting!
