Are we running out of topics for discussion?

I know some people are in mylot for the money. The more discussions you begin, the more cents you get. There are mylotters who really start a discussion that is truly their own. I noticed though that there are also others who read discussions and simply pick a portion or a line and make it their own discussion. I wish that is not the case.

'The more discussions you begin, the more cents you get' That is not true at all. Starting a discussion will earn us just for the first response it receives but not for the others. This is a wrong idea that many Lotters have. We earn for our own activity and not for the activity of others. If we start a discussion and it receives several responses, we will only earn from it if we go back and comment on the responses. That will be our own activity. Those who respond wll be earning for their responses, not us.
I still see original dicussions every day just as I see the ones you mention. I do not think it is becoming any more difficult to create dicussions with new ideas but I do think that several users now compared to a few months ago, are just creating discussions without giving them much thought, thinking they are earning. That will not be the case as they will then find out. It is the original ideas that earn the most.

Hi mysdianait, got that, crystal clear. I think I deserve that for not reading the rules and relying only on other mylotters' surmises. Thank you for the advisement. Am sure many others would also get the cue.

If you start a discussion and it receives zero responses it will earn nothing at all. If it receives one thenit is sort of 'accepted' and will earns omething depending on the content. From then only comments by the original poster who started the discussion will create more earnings for them.
In the FAQs we are told:
'Post quality content. For example, generate discussions that engage other users and provide insightful responses and comments to other users discussions to further the topic'
http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq6.aspx#14
This implies that a question/answer situation is not a discussion and that those topics where there is much activity and interaction between users with comments backwards and forwards will be the ones which will reap the most benefits for all involved.

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to say that I totally agree with this, I know I haven"t been a member here for long, but I do come online to see if there are some interesting discussions that I could take part of.
But I really find it hard sometimes to find a good discussion, and there are indeed many discussions that are verry similar to others that I've read before.
I think it's stupid to just have the same discussion over and over so I just participate in one of them.
I think it also mainly because there are lot's of people on this site who come here just for the money, so they just try and post as many comments and start as many discussions as possible only to get quick money. They don't care if what they are saying is true or relevant or interesting. It's just to bad that there are people like this, because I really do like the concept of this site, but when there is money involved it will always be this way I think

Is it really true?? But I usually find discussions that seems original, but some of the questions are asked repeatedly, like how to earn more from mylot and some simple questions like how do I earn a star, or how will mylot rate us, I think these kind of questions, the users just type when they dont have the answers, other than that not many discussions are repeated, and If I find a discussion already started I dont want to copy it, I like to think on my own for new discussions, because I think mylot pays for original ideas...

I agree sometimes we will be running out of topics, but when away from computer for a minutes, things around us, news from tv and newspapers will immediately help us with new ideas. You can also browse websites for interests. In any case should we not be left at a loss for our own topics and discussions.

Correct. Absolutely. We even have the options to begin discussions that we are at ease with.

Maybe some people just have boring live's, I do not know. But I did see some repeated discussion's over the past few day's. I believe the one that I had responded to has been repeated about 4 time's so far about the low energy bulb's, and them having mercury. When I first responded it was the first one, Now there has been one or 2 more post's each day since, by other member's. I guess it's allowed since they change the wording a little but still, I see no sense at all in rediscussing what I have already discussed. To me there is no sense at all in responding again to the same thing.
I also noticed I believe it was yesterday the same member had made 5 post's 3 of the post's were about the same thing just worded different. I just ignored all 3 of those. But I don't believe that is right either.

Amazing how young people seem to be interested in mercury and energy! I also played with the mercury from a broken fever thermometer when I was in high school. Glad I didn't get blind. But the hullabaloo now seems real... There must be something there. But I agree with you that once I've said my point in a discussion, I omit the others similar in nature.

Yes I agree with you my friend I myself proclaim to have join mylot for financial interest, but when i am making a discussion, I create my own not just for the sake of originality but also for the sake of respect. How will other respect you're post if you can not even respect others.

At least I am the one who run out of new discussions. I haven't posted new discussions for some time. I wish I could think out a good topic. But it seems it is difficult for me. So I tend to reply to others' discussions most of the time.

I also don't think that recycling of discussions is not good. But, sometimes when you read a discussion, you will get idea to start a discussion. There are n number of topics in this world. So, I don't think we will be running out of topics at any time. We are supposed to search the existing discussions before starting a discussion and don't start it if the same discussion already exists.

I agree. Some ideas pop out when we are reading other discussions.

I think you are right, that we are running out of discussions to post to, since there are repetitive discusions, and it really does get annnoying. The ones I have seen lately have been posted by new members, aunaware that the same discussion has already been posted more than once. I won't respond to the ones that are the same as others as there really isn't anything more to be said than has been said already. I sometiems have to do searchs to have discussions to post to. I wish that the new members wouldn't be allowed to just post the same thing over and over. I was in the cell phone category, and one new user had about 5 posts pretty much all the same. Maybe mylot will take care of all these discussions and delete them so that we finally have discussions to post to. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.
