How many times do you wear your jeans?

I was talking to a friend the other day and she says that she only wears her jeans once and then washes them. I on the other hand wear my jeans at least 3 or 4 times before washing them because they feel better once they are worn in. So how many times do you wear your jeans before you wash them and why?

It does depend which pair of jeans although there is no way I would wear them once and wash them unless they got particuarly dirty! One of my pair of jeans though stretches quite alot so I can only wear them the first few times after they have been washed otherwise they are too big. But I think I am like you, I would only really put them for wash after 2 or 3 times of wearing.

I agree with you about only washing them if they get really dirty on the first wear.

for me it depends on the smell of my jeans, but for the usual , i would wear it 3-4 times just like you. I like wearing my jeans if it has been worn a lot of times coz for some reason it feels a lot comfortable. But there are also instances that i only wear my jeans one time then wash it. But it seldom happens. Maybe it got soaked in the rain or i accidentally step on mud. But other than that, i would use my jeans a lot of times before washing it.

I agree with you that jeans feel more comfortable after they have been worn. I think that the material stretches and isn't at tight or scratchy once they have been worn. I guess the amount of times you wear your jeans is mostly personal preference.

I wear jeans occasionally. For the jeans, I wear it at least 2 to 3 times before washing them because I rarely go out on jeans. But if I wear colored pants, I wash them as soon as I unzip them and they would usually placed after into the wash tub.

If you do not wear jeans often or for very long then it makes sense to wear them a few times before washing. Unless they get very dirty in the time you are wearing them then it is best to not wash them straight away.

Hi, a really nice discussion, I myself always used to wonder how can one wash jeans everyday ? I personally wear them for around 4-5 days before washing, because I use them very carefully and don't make them dirty easily. Also, I have some friends who wear new jeans daily, I mean they don't repeat the jeans the next day! Thats makes me wonder who washes their jeans daily ? Cause they are so heavy when wet and also takes a whole day to dry up! They might be wearing 5 sets of jeans repeating after every 5 days, and washing them after wearing all of them at least 3-4 times, but they won't wear the same set continuously for 3-4 days. My mother says our maid is not ready to wash jeans more than 2 days in a week, and we don't wash our outdoor clothes in machine, so it becomes all the more impossible for me to change my jeans daily!

I agree with you that if you are careful and do not stain or dirty your jeans then they are good for a few days. It is a mystery as to how people can wash their jeans everyday.

I think that there are a lot of people who have worn their jeans more then 2 or 3 times. Wearing them 8 times before washing is not that odd.

I think this is all really about personal preference. It really does depend on you as to whether you feel comfortable wearing jeans more then once or not.

"Forever in Blue Jeans" should be my theme song. I wear jeans always and everywhere that I can. I enjoy being comfortable, and my jeans are comfortable. I am not one that likes to dress up at all. I just never have been. I have an aunt who has shoes that cost more than my whole wardrobe. Of course I can get away with it when I am working only online from my home office!!! When at a regular office, I wear casual cotton slacks and blouses usually. I don't need or like fancy clothes much! Oh, and of course my tennis shoes are also worn daily - goes without saying!

If you are 'forever in blue jeans' then they must be comfortable. If they were not then you wouldn't want to wear them all the time.

Sometimes I wear my jeans only once if and only if it's very dirty and or wet. But most of the time I wear it 3-5 times depending on how many hours I have worn it in a day or if it's not that dirty or doesn't smell. I just sort of airdry it after using it to save on my time and effort in washing. Jeans are very hard to wash and tiring for me because I do handwash only.

You are absolutely right about the time being spent on washing jeans. It does take long even if you are using a machine.

Can't say a certain amount of days, but I think I wear them about a week, until the weekend. I usually wear them while going to school, so I wash them on weekend, when I don't need to wear them. Then I also have time to dry them well.

Hi biomechanoid? Just like you, I also wear my jeans in school because it gives me a good fashion look as a student with my jeans and it also gives me comfort while wearing it. Then as a student because of very busy weeked, Saturday is the free time for me to wash my clothes and jeans. By the way biomechanoid? What is your course?

Yea, when jeans are washed, they become much heavier, you can feel there is so much water inside them. And it all must dry for long time, before they are light and dry again.
@cloudi (330)

It is the drying that takes a lot of time when it comes to washing jeans. Wearing them all week and then washing them on weekends is a really good plan.

I wear my jeans 5-6 times before wash but my husband if goes on tour prefers jeans only so wears for 8=9 times before wash and every other pair of clothes comes back as it is given as he wears jeans only and change shirts only. so that jeans is very comfortable.

jeans do become very comfortable after a couple of wears. I think the longer you wear them for the more comfortable they will become.

Hi cloudi: I wear my jeans until I feel I should wash them. You see, sometimes I might wear them 4 or 5 times but if its only for short periods of time, I don't feel I have to wash them. If the weather was good, I might wear them about thrice before washing. If I had to be in them all day long, and even if they are not dirty, I might feel a bit queasy about wearing them specially if the weather was very hot and humid. If however, the weather has been pretty bad or if I had to splash through mud or sit on the ground (it has happened) and generally muck it out, then of course its "wash wash" even after a day's wear.

Hi susan35, Thinking about it the weather does play a large part in this for many people. My friend lives in Australia so maybe it is because of the heat that she washes her jeans more than I do.

Well as a student and only owning 3 pairs of jeans it can get pretty difficult :P so it depends if I go home on a weekend or not. If not maybe like 3 or 4 times a pair. Otherwise like 2. I think its also kinda acceptable sorta cause atleast for me I find it harder to notice if jeans are dirty or not :P

I get your point in your response MacRunfast because honestly speaking it also depends on your number of jeans to be wear. If you have 5 jeans in your cabinet, I guess it's enough for you to wear your jeans onces from monday to friday. But in your situation with 3 jeans, I Guess it's more good to wear it twice. By the way, as I said in my response I only do have 2 jeans which enough for me to wear it from Monday to Friday. By the I also do have a formal uniform. In addition if your staying at your house, It's more better for you because you can able to wash your jeans if you like it. But if you are living on a dormitory, I think it's better for you to put it on place, then just simply wash it when you are going in your house.

It is true that it is harder to see if jeans are dirty. I think it is fine to wear jeans more then once.

Me I use my jeans for 3 times max. But when I used it for a long time and I know that it is already dirty, I only use it once then off to the laundry. They say that when you use your jeans for one time only, the color will easily fade because of the washing. ^^

yer jeans are lucky....... mine yea, i wash them after using them 3 times, )if I spill something on it)... but if not, i let my jeans complain first!
@cloudi (330)

If they are dirty then washing them after one wear is a good idea. It is true about the color fading from jeans because of too much washing. That is another reason why I don't like washing my jeans too often.

I wear them 3-4 times if I don't have someone who will wash my clothes at a regular basis.. otherwise, I will wear it once and will be washed afterward.. (I am so lazy to wash clothes, actually all the household choirs, so I need someone to do it for me..)

It is so true that when you have to do your own washing it just doesn't seem worth it to wash them that often. If someone else is doing the washing then it really is an entirely different matter.

Hello friend, For me i wear my jeans 4 times before washing it. If see's that it is clean enough and no dirt in it, why not to wear right? If I wear it one time and see dirt, why should I wear it again? But in a regular routine, I wear it four times and no need to say any reason about it...have a great day!

yup! my friend, you right. Thanks for the response..have a great day!
@cloudi (330)

You couldn't be any more correct. If you can see no visible dirt then there is no reason to not wear them again but then if there is visible dirt then they should be washed.

I would only wear them once if I got them really dirty! Most of the time I wear my jeans or shorts for about 2 - 4 days, depending on whether it has been hot or not! If it is quite cool weather and I do not sweat much, then I would get perhaps 4 days out of them between washing. But if it has been hot and I sweat in them, then I will only wear them for 2 days. I usually feel how they feel against my skin before I take them off at night to determine which pile of clothing they are to go in!

I agree with you that what they feel like before you take them off plays a role. If they still feel fine when I take them off they will be fine when I put them back on so they don't need to be washed.

Jeans is a part of my daily dressing.I love denim and faded glory jeans types.Mostly since jeans clothing takes long drying up and as I have only 4 pairs of them I mostly wear the jeans alternatively 3 times a jeans by jeans the days later not continue with the same one the other day.After all don't we have prestige even if the jeans of ours are not been washed for 3 days. These day's some jeans patterns aren't that good most are like spams in net.Well all clothing goes as a perfect match for any other upper clothes you wear,jeans pants give one the rock star, tough and sturdy look.

As you can see I am a usual jeans user in my dress code so finding an alternative would be much of improper thing to do for me.I am gonna save some more of my money and buys some new brands of jeans.What about that suggestion,do you save more money for your clothing.
@cloudi (330)
26 Aug 09
It is true that jeans do take long to dry. I think that is why washing them after wearing them once is a bit of a waste. Alternating the jeans you wear is also a good idea as you are not seen wearing them same pair everyday.

I like jeans very much. In fact i can't do without it. I am more of a casual guy than a formal guy. I am also not the hip hop type. Jeans go all the way for me as far as clothing is concerned. Jean and a t-shirt is what i'll be mostly seen in. I love jeans because i feel comfortable in it. It also can take wear and tear like no other clothes. It is also a fashion statement that have lasted over the years and will last in the days to come. I like blue and black jeans. I also like faded ones. Lastly, i wear jeans almost everyday.

Seems like i have left out a part of your discussion. Coming to how often i wash my jeans, i really can't say it. Usually, I wash them after wearing it for 4-5 times. But sometimes i also wash them after wearing once, if they get real dirty or smells because of sweat. It depends, jeans are good.
@cloudi (330)

You are right about jeans being able to take more wear and tear then other types of clothing. I think it is because they were originally created as a durable clothing during the gold rush.
