Our Arthur went to the vet Friday. He wasn't eating and was hiding. It turns out he is very jaundiced and his liver values are not good at all. We are giving him appetite stimulates and antibiotics and subqs and force feeding him with a syringe. He is so weak he almost lets us do this. He does growl, but not big struggle. We are also giving him Slippery Elm which is good for the liver. He gets the subqs twice a day and is fed 3-4 times a day and gets pills twice a day. It is very busy in this cat hospital. The other cats are ignoring him. Arthur has to be found and pulled out of his hiding place each time he gets something done.

Poor Arthur! One of my cats is unwell at the moment but he sounds a little more alert than your poor baby! I read your comments and I am glad that you are not giving up on him. My cat needed blood tests and I felt so afraid that he may have cancer but, like you I was determined to give him all the help I could muster and not admit defeat. The test was thankfully clear and he is still being treated in order to find out how to fix his problem. Arthur is in excellent hands as I can see and I will be sending a few prayers his way. He will make it, I know it. Keep us posted, good luck...

I'm sorry to hear this - does he have "fatty liver disease?" I've lost one cat to that and pulled 2 others out of it

That's one of the things that was mentioned. He has high bilirubin and is getting fluids to flush it out of him.

Awww....I hope Arthur gets better soon hon. It sounds like he is getting awesome care, even though I'm sure HE doesn't think it's so awesome. Please keep us posted on how he is doing.

Thanks. He sure doesn't think so. He must be feeling a little bit better because he's resisting more than he was. I will keep you posted for sure.

awwwwwwwwww...poor Arthur. Sounds like he just wants to be left alone to die. Has the vet found out yet just what is causing his illness? I just sent up a small prayer for him to be well soon.

He's not going to die. We aren't thinking that way. He is being treated. We are not giving up on him. Thanks so much for the prayers. They always help.
