The news is reporting there will be a big push to get half of the country vaccinated. Are you more worried about the pandemic or the vaccine?

No I will not get one, no I am not worried about the Pandemic, population wise it is nothing compared to "the plague" and no I am not worried about the vaccine, like any other infectious agent, simple personal hygiene will most likely stop it from infecting me. I wash my hands a lot.

I'm not planning to get one either. I am more concerned about unexpected side effects, being SICKER, etc. I'm less into invasive medicine anyway, I would prefer most alternative forms of health care whenever possible. I think natural is safer for your body, causes less inflammation and stress and sickness or side effects. It also CAN work, even though people who really stand behind traditional medicine think I am nuts. I am not against having a good safety net in place and I do have a doctor, but she knows that I prefer natural methods first. Prevention is always key, no matter what!

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I am going to break with my traditional feelings on this matter and share with you my favorite preventative product. Or at least I would if it wasn't against the MyLot Code of Conduct. But I could message you if you like, or you could Research Limu Plus. Do that. It is really great for you regardless who gets the commission cheque.

Hi mommyboo, I am more worried about the virus then get the vaccine. This virus has killed more then 50 people in my country. The vaccine is not tested on humen yet so the effectiveness in not proven just yet. I will take it if it has been proven safe and can avoid us from being infected.

CDC says they'll give it the go ahead even after 6 weeks of testing, doesn't sound like adequate safety measures to me

I am really worried about the safety and efficacy of the vaccine. Most medications are tested for years before they actually use clinical trials with humans, and it doesn't seem like we will have time for this. I am not personally worried because there have been no cases of swine flu in my county or city, so I really don't think there'd be a big chance of me being exposed. I do live in California but it's not like I drive to LA all the time nor am I in big crowds of people all the time either.

Yeah .... the best way is try to stay away from the crowd places. The virus is easier to spread in the crowd. Preventative is better then cure.

I have never gotten any flu shots and have never gotten ant of the flus that go around. I Don't trust the shots either. According to the Washington Post the vaccine will be stored in multi-dose vials containing thimerosal, an antibacterial additive that contains mercury. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/07/29/AR2009072903607_2.html?wpisrc=newsletter&wpisrc=newsletter&wpisrc=newsletter&sid=ST2009072903827 Besides look at what happened back in 19076 and what was going on with the government. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x9mh9f_swine-flu-1976-propaganda_webcam

I always hear about thimerosal.... and how it is suspected to cause all sorts of things if someone is sensitive or perhaps even allergic to it. Why is this still being used if it is causing people so much harm?

I think if there is any availability of vaccine then one should certainly go for that. Due to swine flu our work is already affected. In heavily affected city people are simply frightened to go outside, no one knows where the flu virus is waiting for them. So, it is better to get the vaccine and do the work and enjoy the freedom. Definitely, I will go for that, hope it will be out soon..

Where do you live? With something like this, you have to weigh your pros and cons. If the vaccine provides some pros but a LOT of guaranteed cons, then why take it on? People have gotten this flu and survived, but it seems like more people may get sicker or even die from the vaccine.

Actually neither of them are really worrying me at all. The thing is if you check the news the only reason its being called a pandemic is because it is spreading between countries and is spreading quickly but when you look at the toll against the regular flu there really isn't much of a difference. Therefore why worry about anything? If you worry you are just going to be damaging your own nerves more than need be. So will I be getting the vaccine? Nope - I've never gotten a vaccine and I think I only get the flu every couple of years.

LOL! That's true, that this isn't really worse than the regular strains of the flu, I think they are having issues because this one seems 'uncontrolled' plus it is killing a different demographic than the regular flu seems to. Anything different from the norm seems to throw people for a loop. I'm not particularly worried about it, although I have seen an almost 50/50 from responders here. I think it depends where people live, some people live in areas where there have been cases reported, some people live in other countries. I guess it's key to make sure you get to a doctor if you suspect you might be sick... sooner rather than later, even if it isn't the flu at all. I do get the regular flu vaccine, but my husband gets one at work, and my daughter's ped recommends she gets one too. My son is in high school and he is usually the one who gets sick with whatever goes around and he brings it home. We do what we can to combat that lol. My daughter just started kindergarten so she will be exposed to a lot more kids than preschool so I still agree with the ped that it's helpful. I haven't had a bad case of the flu in years. A mild case but nothing so bad I was incapacitated.

I'm a college student and therefore there have been many notifications sent out to us saying that they will be getting some of the vaccinations once they're ready and we're able to get them and then of course the normal wash your hands stuff. So if can spread rapidly through here, I remember my freshman year getting extremely sick from some virus that spread to a good portion of the student body to where our clinic for over a week was only seeing people if you had over a 100F temperature because of the mass appointments. But I've had 2 cases so far in my hometown and it barely even got covered there since they said it was mild cases and as long as you're healthy you're fine.

No, I am afraid I won't be getting this vaccine. I do not do well at all with vaccine and have friends who have been quite ill from the ingredients in them too. However, I also know people, including members of my own family, who go and get everything on offer and never have a bad effect at all. I used natural means of avoiding flu and other viruses.. - Derek

I did a discussion about this topic about two weeks ago http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2097026.aspx If people had any idea of the ingredients of vaccines they'd never get one ever again...I haven't had the flu since I was eleven, and never had a flu vaccine...when my mother was alive she never had the flu either, save twice..the ONLY two times she got the flu vaccine.

I am more worried about the vaccine because no body knows yet what that is going to do to you cause it is new and hasn't been tested very much.

I am more worried about the vaccine and have avoided any kind of flu vaccine for years. This year though I finished up with school and am now working in a hospital and so it looks like I will be taking every vaccine that they have for the flu!! I have always seemed to get sick after I get the flu vaccine and when I haven't gotten it it seems that I have stayed pretty well. I guess I will see if that holds true once again this year. I am hoping all the worry over H1N1 will blow over soon just like all the others. It amazes me how many people are convinced that is what they have and if we don't do something they are going to die right there on the spot.

I know what you mean... two people I know were basically human guinea pigs for two vaccines that are now commonly administered. One of them ended up becoming violently ill and with a collapsed lung less than three days later.

I am more worried about this vaccine, but only because my hubby and I had a big conversation about it when it was first all over about the swine flu. Apparently back in 1920s or 30s there was some big bad flu outbreak and a vaccine was created and the VACCINE killed more people than the FLU. That flu happened to be nasty, but they didn't realize the vaccine had side effects too. I don't plan to get this vaccine, although I do plan to get the regular flu vaccine. I have been getting them since I was pregnant, so for the last 5 years I have gotten one... 6 years I mean. We all get them, hubby gets one at work, I usually get my son one, and my daughter's ped recommends she gets one. The kids are at school which is where they usually bring things home from. I go to the gym and am out and about around plenty of people who might be sick and I might have no idea lol. I have never been sick - at least not like I got sick before I had flu shots. I did get a mild case one year and it was icky but nothing like 5 days throwing up, nauseated, chills, aches.
