We have someone who is good by nature, let's say.If he/she lives in constant torture and suffers too much and too long. Can this person change completely and become cruel? Some religions state that we all are good by nature. But if we experience hate and violence, doesn't it make us violent too?No matter how good we are?

Generally, I don't think the torture or violence in itself is what makes a good person become a bad person. I've known several friends who had violent parents, but these same people when on to become excellent parents themselves. During wartimes, medical staff certainly saw and experienced violence without becoming violent themselves. And many captured soldiers have suffered as prisoners of war, and were tortured (such as John McCain who ran for President of the U.S. during the last election), without becoming violent.
What frequently causes violence are societies that harbor and encourage hatred against race, religion and/or ideologies. Greed is also a big factor, when some one lusts after the possessions or wealth of another.

My father had a very hard childhood, but he never kept doing good, so I agree that some people never become cruel or violent. But some do.I met a battered wife who became as rude as her husband, started smoking, drinking and stopped treating even her closest friends with respect as she used to do.

If the torture brings an enormous anger then that could come forward many years after the torture is over. If you could find a way to forgive you may fully recover from your past.
