Philosophical Differences

I received this little illustration in an email from a friend. I pretty much agree with the message. Do you? Philosophical Differences: $50 I asked my friend's little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be president of the United State some day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, 'If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?" She replied, 'I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people.' Her parents beamed, and said, "Welcome to the Democrat Party!" "Wow...what a worthy goal!" I told her. I continued, "But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that. You can come over to my house, mow the lawn, pull weeds, and sweep my yard, and I'll pay you $50. Then I'll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out. You can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house.' She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, 'Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?' I smiled and said, "Welcome to the Republican Party."

I do not think that the democratic party or republican party has anything to do with your little girl's logic. I believe your little girl is simply a human with commonsense and the ability to reason. Did you know that it is almost impossible for true and decent humans to belong to any political party with rigid persuasions? Decent folks will figure things out depending upon circumstances and time, since they know that there are times when reason ought to take precedence over cause or rules!

Don't forget little girl,Liberals want to take money from Conservatives and give it to Liberals. My daughter told me that one!!! I'm soooooo Proud!!!!! No one has the right to take the fruits of another man's labor. I am also against slavery. I also believe stealing is wrong. I guess I'm just old fashioned.

Good old common sense has solved a lot more problems than political idealogies, and neither party has an exlusive on it.

Well actually welcome to the Libertarian party, the Republicans would have just come up with some gutless alternative to take care of the homeless guy. The Republican plan would have had the $50 go to a church and then the homeless guy. The Libertarian plan would be the one that would have had the homeless guy actually working.

The Republican Party has gotten away from its core values in the last few years. I hope they can find their way back.

As funny as it is, it sets up another one of those dichotomies that I swear on my grandfather's grave is dragging our country down.

It would be great if the political parties would come together to solve our problems. This endless tug-of-war between political idealogues is getting us nowhere.
