Was Bernie Madoff's family guilty?

I just can't believe how so many people in Bernie Madoff's family worked for him, close members:
his two sons (which turned him in) who worked in the trading sector of the business with Bernie's nephew, his younger brother Peter (was Senior Managing Director and Chief Compliance Officer), his daughter was compliance attorney, and probably a whole lot more in Israel.
Also note:
Massachusetts regulators also accused her of withdrawing $15 million from company-related accounts shortly before he confessed
Madoff's wife Ruth agreed to forfeit her claim to US$85 million in assets, leaving her w. $2.5 million in cash.[http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124623418258366507.html]
Madoff had initially requested prosecutors to allow his wife to keep about $70 million in assets held in her name, arguing that these were unconnected to his fraud.
In most criminal investigations the families are the FIRST to undergo interrogations but in this case it seemed like his sons turned him in, they said ok, came to get him, left his wife with 2.5 million and nothing more said. I think his family has money sitting somewhere out of the country and will use that to buy their way through the system and hey, quite possibly use his 'cancer cells' (though it is said to be shot down), SOMETHING done.
It doesn't make sense that his closest family worked alongside him, his sons turn their father in and get off free. How could they live with themselves if their wasn't some scheme worked at the time they probably realized the FBI was on their tail..

with the magnitude of the case and scheme, i don't think that bernie madoff alone could pull it off. he mush have had accomplices. they say that the best accomplices are family members because trust is at the maximum level. yeah, bernie's sons turned him in. investigators must take a look at the motives of the sons. is that their way of misleading the investigators that they have nothing to do with the crimes of their father. wise move on their part, ha.

I dont know if it was a wise move, I just do not understand why the family's history and operations were not investigated more than they were, its just a normal procedure

I had believed that the sons did not know about it. I thought they came upon the deception and then turned him in. How hard must that have been to do that to your own father. Then again look at what he was doing to his family. I think the wife had to know because she was taking care of the books. Why isn't she in jail and why is she able to keep 2 million dollars. Especially when some of the people they took money from are now living on foodstamps.

I don't believe they knew nothing, they HAD to know something was fishy even if they couldn't point to anything specific. I'm sure the wife was all over it, she got clients for him and she's not stupid--just greedy.
