A sad scene on television news shows the burning of Athens. Brings to mind a scenario from Iliad.. the burning of Troy. The Greeks had been one of the most admirable people civilization had produced. Be it in science, mathematics, sports, literature and the arts, I hold them on a pedestal. I also love their shores that seem to glisten with sparkles... and I only saw them in the movies such as Mama Mia, Troy, and the Traveling Pants... That is why I felt bad when the news reports something about the Parthenon and other cultural repositories being threatened by fire. Pray not.

yes u are absolutely right! i also noticed that greece has been having some serious issues of late. In fact the recent debt crisis of Greece is the most solemn and sullen of them all. Oh whatever happened to mighty Greece of the old days? Anyway, well, hopefully, Greece will slowly recover from all its mishaps

I like Greece very much, and the Greeks, of course. I know that when they concocted the stories of their gods and goddesses, they truly believed every detail. aliya, your name sounds Greek. What does it mean?

Lol yeah actually they believed them all.But think of the fact that if ancient Greeks didn't believe in all these things, they wouldn't have created neither of the Parthenon nor any other wonders. Our whole ancient culture was based on our ancient Gods :).I am Greek and I know many things about Greek mythology.Anyway, the name aliya is not a Greek name :)
