One of the most frustrating things!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dropped my car off Friday and they said it would probably be done Saturday. I didn't hear anything from them all weekend and had to take a cab to work Monday.
Today, Monday, when I called, they told me it was going to be over $300 just for a new starter. They said the starter was going to be over $230 and the labor would be about $85. When I called the NAPA place they said they were getting the part from that would be $230, NAPA said they charge $165 for it. I know they have to mark up the prices a bit, but that is ridiculous!
My boyfriend bought the part rather than paying their exorbitant price, and they did let him drop it off, but they still are charging an arm and a leg for labor. THEN they said it would be done Monday for sure, and when I called at 7:30 they said they close at 6:00 and my car wouldn't be able to be picked up today and it wasn't done. I am about to scream!!
I will NEVER return to this place for auto repairs -- unless I feel like getting ROBBED and waiting forever for my car to be repaired!
Don't you think having a car break down is annoying enough, let alone having to worry about people you can trust to do a good job mechanically and a fair job with the prices?!?!?

I would be mad if I were you, too. That certainly does sound frustrating. I'm lucky enough to have a dad that happens to be an automechanic..So I'm pretty much in the clear for that.
. You should have someone you know (who is a certified auto-mechanic) do it if he/she has the proper tools at home. I'm sure someone would be willing to do it "on the side" and you'd get a discounted price for labor (but you'd still have to pay for the part..obviously). Another thing you should think about doing (as an after-thought) is trying to get ahold of upper management and call or write a letter about the bad experience you had. They might throw it away, or they might give you some kind of refund or at least an apology.

Not so much... When I picked up my car FINALLY today, I asked to speak to the manager and he had an attitude with me even though I tried to remain patient while explaining several points... I got no consideration whatsoever. The other employees were nice, but I WOULD NEVER go back there and will be sure to tell everyone I know not to go to Cupp's Auto in Martinsburg!!! I have also written a few reviews of them online so others know how I was treated.

You definately were in the process of being taken for a ride. Good for you dropping off the part! We are very blessed to have several in our church that work on cars and are very good. They are able to do easy projects like starters, radiator problems, light bulbs etc.

That's why I'd call around for quotes and then go online on a local forum and ask for recommendations of where to go for decent service.
Perhaps this is also why my hubby likes to trade in a vehicle once it becomes more than just one repair but a few.... but that's also why we are in debt past our eyeballs!

I would report them to the BBB, its feedback like yours, positive or negative that other people rely on when trying to find a good mechanic. I've been in that situation, they don't care about your car, they will fix it when they get to it but if you go down there and stand around and wait and raise some cane they will work a bit faster. Let them know how unprofessional you were treated. Remember, a satisfied customer tells 5 people, a dissatisfied one tells 15.

MECHANICS ARE ONE OF THE MOST AGGRAVATING PEOPLE I HAVE EVER HAD TO DEAL WITH & i have dealt w/alot of them in many years. T hey will take advantage of a woman. I have fought w/most everyone of them in this town, lol.Thank heavens i was finally able to get a decent car that i have had very little trouble with, knock on wood. Sorry u had such a time. no, i would not go back there & would tell them why when i picked up my car.

you were definitely robbed for that high price that they charged for repairs and parts they have replaced. so i think it is better to know how to repair your own cars in case you don't have any shop that you can trust that will charged only you the fair price and will just mark up prices for them to earn bigger money. that is what i don't like about auto repair shops. they are full of .... anyways, hope you will other repair shops that will give you good service without charging such a big price for some minor repairs.
