Do you ever comment on your own discussions?

I've seen a lot of people here on Mylot comment on their own discussions, and I sometimes do it to. I was just wondering how many people comment on their own discussions. And one more thing, the other day, I was reading the Mylot rules, and it said it's against the rules to say thank you to each person who responds to your discussions. Is commenting on your discussions the same as saying thanks to everyone? I just want to know, I'm not trying to tell you you are doing something wrong in commenting on you own discussion.

I normally comment on the response to a discussion I have started either by agreeing with the view point or disagreeing with it and giving the reasons for doing so. There are times when I find that two others are arguing between themselves about my discussion and then I'm not quite sure what I should do. I try to say thank you at the end of a comment becoz it's always nice to get a response.

I personally do respond to responses of my own discussions as that was a recommendation made to me by another mylot member. I wasn't aware that it was something I was supposed to be doing but after they informed me to do so I did begin. Have a great day.

Well, most of the time I do comment to those who respond to my discussion. As long as my comments make sense. Not just saying thanks but making your respondent more satisfied if you really need to reply on him. But in most cases, we really need to reply on them just a confirmation that we have read their response and we didn't ignore them...

I comment back because I think it is the way to keep a discussion going. If you don't comment back, then it is just a random page of peoples feelings on a topic, or answers to a question, not a discussion. IMO, I'm not saying anyone is right or wrong for what they do. :)

Hi there, well i do give response to members who gave comments in my discussion, Yah i heard that saying thank you is against the law, so i dont really use the word thank you when giving response. Sometimes i do say the word "appreciate" anyway, goodluck and keep on mylotting

Yes!Commenting on the responses we get is good way to change the post to a discussion. It is one way to let the responders that we read their responses and commenting back is to enhance the ideas expressed.Mere thanks will not be counted as a good comment and it is not expected.Cheers!

Hi sanjanaraman, why post a discussion if you don't comment back to the responses you receive, it is polite to do so and it is the only way a discussion can get started. Ask questions in your comments if you think the person is saying something interesting which you want to know more about, that will draw other people to your discussions and as people get to know you and realise you handle your discussions properly, they will be more likely to return. Pretty soon you will then have some interaction on your discussions and will enjoy them more. Take a look round at some of the other posters discussions and see which style you would rather run with.

I usually reply any comment which come to my discussion. I think it is a duty for us in mylot to respond any comment on our discussion. This also can increasing our earning here. I also heard that saying thank is prohibited because it has no meaning in response since it's too common. All mylot wants is quality and quantity response, not one or two words reponse. Here we are sharing our opinions and thoughts. Sometimes on certain topic we can see there's a small debate. I think this is what mylot wants. So being active is responding as many as comment on your discussions. Good luck and have a nice day. Happy mylotting.

When I just joined mylot, I am not very sure about this, so I comment to each person who respond to my discussions and say thank you to them. Then one of my responder told me that I need not do so. So later I just comment on the responses which really interest my and which could further my discussion. Have a nice day!

I respond to replies, which I find to be worthy of responding to. But in the sense of replying to my own topic - I don't do that. That would be "bumping" and I am pretty sure the rules are against such behavior. I have seen folks simply copy-paste thanking others for replying to their discussion and I kinda find it annoying, but I suppose the moderators and administrators here keep an eye on such actions and do what they must.

I do comment back to people that reply to my discussion. The first and most reason why I do it is because it is polite. When you reply to the comment even though you can't say thankyou, you can say I appreciate you giving your opinion, and then add something to it. You are actually supposed to comment back on your discussions, as that is what makes you money.
