Recently, there were people who reacted negatively when Carlo J Caparas was awarded as National Artist. According to them, there were violations and President GMA is again involved.
We all know that Caparas is a good story writer and a film director, but I am that sure if he deserves the award this early considering that many are ahead of him.
Anyway, I heard he is planning to run for senator just to prove that people like him that much. Rumors are spreading that GMA choose him to get the award since they are both from Pampanga.
Now, do you think he will run, win, and be a good senator?
No hurting words, please.

when i found out that there are people who were against of having Carlo J Caparas as one of the national artist, i feel doubtful about their reactions. but last night, i got to watch PROBE and they feature Carlo J Caparas. i understand now why there were so many against of having him as a national artist. for me, he was not qualified to be a national artist. as we all know, the works of the national artist are given recognition because they set good values for both children and adult. i don't think that the children would be able to be educated by his works. on the political side, i found out that during the rivalry of FPJ and GMA, Caparas didn't vote for FPJ but to president GMA and as a result, the constituents of Caparas voted to president GMA also. Caparas made a big contribution to president GMA's reign and now, it's president GMA's turn to help Caparas and that is through having Carlo J Caparas as one of the national artist... tsk!

I fear he might. If he could drum up sympathy from the masses because of his recent "sufferings" he could get the people's vote. Filipinos love underdogs, or at least underdogs with some celebrity status.

He would better remain as movie director to avoid courting too many controversies. Being Senator is a big responsibility and he might failed to fulfill the role, it's not easy as doing massacre films. But of course we cannot judge a capacity of a person. But for Philippine's sake, he better not to take the position and just concentrate on making films for our amusement.

"...considering that many are ahead of him."
It's not a matter of being behind in the industry, it's a matter of giving the right award to the deserving person. CJC can draw but does he deserve to be called National Artist for Visual Art if he never did any of the drawing being credited to him? And to be considered a National Artist for Film? What the ....!!! Can anyone tell me a film he made worth discussing in film studies?
As for Carlo running for a senate post, let him do it. He is free to do so. And I do wish him luck. But I will never vote for him. Why should I? He can't even discern a writer from an illustrator.

Hi fatherblogger! First, we must define what is a senate. This is an august chamber of the legislative body of our democratic system of government. The senators who compose this upper house must be able to write laws that will work for our people. To be able to write laws, one must be knowledgeable of the existing laws, the magna carta, human rights, etcetera. That is why we have law schools that train prospective lawyers in this field. Then we have the bar that screen the law students if they are worth being called lawyers. Carlo Caparas is a comics writer and a film proponent who specializes on movies that cater to the masa. Do you think he can pass a bill? Do you think he can even begin to understand the terminologies of the law? Had we not learned from Lito Lapid, the two Revillas, and Tito Sotto?

if he wins the senatorial bid, he would surely create a law that hs something to do or co-relate with choosing the best artist, his way
.but frankly i don't think he's fit for this kind of field, this is a serious job that real people involved and experts should get involved.

If he wants to run then let him. If his only reason to run for senator is to prove that people like him then I say he's a very bad and inappropriate candidate. I would also tag him as a nuisance candidate.

it's a free country. anybody can run it they feel that they have something to offer to the Filipino people...even those who are in jail run for public office some even won...if carlo j runs for senator that's his right...and let us all decide if he deserves to be in the senate or not on election day...after all we still have 10 months to think about it..

I heard that a status quo is ordered by the supreme court to delay the awarding of the said award to the new national artists. Anyway, with his senatorial bid, anyone can run for an office. It's just disappointing that we have more qualified and capable to be law-makers but do not try. And if they run, they lost. I mean, it's better for the people and our country to have better man in the house than people who really have nothing about our laws.

Whhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaat?
Carlo Caparas for Senator? GMA is really up to it again. An expensive dinner in New York, now Caparas for senatorial bid. I hope this remains a rumor. I guess no need to express more my sentiments.

I don't think running for senator is the proper way to know if the people likes him? Being a senator is public service and not a vehicle to pursue personal interests and this fuzz about the national artist award should be intervened with proper legislation to prevent this from happening again, and amend the provisions of the present processes to improve the credibility of the award.
