If you could change just one big thing in your life right now, what would it be?

People grow and change themselves and their lives all through the years. If there was one big change you could make in your own life right now, what would it be and why? I would wish to own a home again rather than living in an apartment. I feel limited here: no pets, cannot plant anything in the ground, cannot change color of paint on walls, etc. Please share your desired change with us. Karen

I wish that I made more time for exercise. I really need to get in shape! So, my plan is to start faithfully going to the health club.

Hello Singing. That is a very worthwhile thing to change. I'm sure you'll love the health benefits. I have a friend who wanted to start exercising and talked and talked about it lol. One day, he just plain forced himself to go for a short walk. Now he walks each day, whatever the weather, and keeps incresing the distance he goes, week by week. He's discovered that he loves it! Beat of luck and wishes on going to the health club Karen

Hello my friend Well I use to live in upstate N.Y if I could change anything it would be moving back to the city, I was happy up there the pay was not all that great, but I should have thought it out before I decided to move back, I moved there spontaneously ,left the same way, some times being spontaneous is not a good way to be, so if I had my way I would have stayed there and found a way to make it work. just the thought of the people who would not be in my life right now , big mistake on my part, big mistake.

Hi Kitty :) Aww, is there any way you can move back to where you loved it so much? I feel for anyone who does not like where they live. Perhaps, soon enough, you'll be able to change that for the better! Take care and good luck with that. Karen

Yes, the movie should earn more than enough to buy you some good "wheels!" Seriously, though, who knows? In the not too distant future, you may well be able to make that a wish come true. I hope that for you! Have a beautiful day, Kitty.

That is exactly what I desperately need, I am stuck in a rut at the moment and I know the solution would be to get a place of my own, I crave for my independence, privacy and being left alone, I do not particular like living with people, but at the moment financial problems dictate, I climb the walls sometimes, it also adds to my depression and frustration. I just can't see a light at the end of the tunnel. I want to be able to have a place where I can shut the world out and be left alone totally. Impossible dream it seems right now. I sometimes close my eyes and dream of a bungalow by the sea with my own little garden and a beatiful sofa and decor to relax and shut the world out.

Being alone has come from being bullied and in two abusive mental relationships so it kind of puts you off people and definitely relationships, I am never my true self unless I am alone. Thanks for your added comment, appreciated and a very warm welcome to Mylot to you!

Hello Wolfie. When I was finally financially able to live alone after my divorce, the feeling of freedom to be myself was palpable! So of course, I wish you the best in your endeavor. The more steps you make to realize that dream, the better you will feel in the meantime. And visualizing the bungalow and setting, that is also a positive incentive. Again, the best to you. Karen

Hey, Wolfie, I know what you mean about wanting to be alone. I have a small son and used to have a needy husband and I craved alone time very badly. What I did and still do is get up a little earlier than I normally would so I can have some time alone to be just me. I usually spend that time journaling or something. It's not as good as being totally on your own, but it sure has helped me keep my sanity over the years.

Hello there :) I crave for this same thing. I have concluded that the best thing is to take the best care of the self I now am, chronic illness and all. And if I do that, perhaps health will improve, since there is no cure. Happiness to you... Karen

I want to get my finances in order and under control. I just got divorced and am in danger of losing my house. I'm actually taking steps though. I'm working with a housing counselor, a financial counselor, my mortgage company and my lawyer. The next few months are going to be crazy, but I'm working on it.

Hello Sehlers. The year it took for my divorce to become final and the first year after were crazy indeed. I think you're wise to be working on the things that matter to you and seeking help in making these changes. Action is one of the best remedies for problems and worries :) My thoughts are with you, but I know you'll ultimately be fine. Karen

I think the one thing I would want would be to have started praying for more wisdom before I read my mid 50's. There is so much that goes on in this world and so many times people look to us older ones for advice. I would have listened more closely to my parents and grandparents as they taught me things and talked to me. I would have studied my Bible way more when I was younger and prayed a lot more for wisdom. That is my desire to help people and we need lots of wisdom to know when to just keep our mouths shut and listen and when it is the proper time to speak. Then with wisdom we also know are given the proper words to speak. God bless you!

Hi Cathie. I've already reached my fifties, and yet, I still pray for that additional wisdom. God is good and he does deliver. The desire to help people and to make a positive difference in this world burns deeply within many of us. I do believe that even as an individual, we truly can make strides...where we are right now with what God has given us. Mother Teresa, said in her wisdom: if you cannot feed a hundred hungry children, then feed one. God bless you in your quest. Karen

Hey, I really want to have a nice physique, like to have those huge muscles that some men dream of. Although most people don't think the person is how they are on the appearance, I definitely don't want to be skinny, but have a nice physique. Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!

Hello to you. I have a brother who felt at a young age much as you do. He got into health and body-building, educated himself on the process, and to this day, he works out with weights. He changed his physique, not for any other reason than it is what he wanted to do for himself. So I know that can be done. I wish you well in your endeavors! Karen

Hello Peace. I think those are very admirable goals. I used to know some French, since I took one year of it in high school, but like you, I'd love to become fluent in a second language, since English is my only one. You do well with English here, and I'm sure you'll just keep getting better and better at it. Have a happy day! Karen

Hi Karen.....Nice discussion. If I could change one thing about myself right now it would be my health. I have arthritis and fibromyalgia and they are constantly battling for my attention. I have thought so much about just dying because I am unable to do for my family what I use to do and I don't like it at all. The meds they give me just sorta buffer the true feelings. If any other mylotters out there suffer with these diseases they can relate to what I am saying. I have lost all interest in the activities that use to mean so much to me. That is what I would change if I was given the chance to do it. flutterby

Hello my friend. I completely identify with that and work on it each day. I do have both conditions, as you, plus the pain and limitations that stem from permanent nerve damage from a spinal fusion put off too long--in order to satisfy all the rules of the insurance company. I think depression is a side effect of any/all chronic conditions that cause pain and limitations. For a long time, I was where you seem to be now, and have worked very hard to make whatever improvements I could to my health, as well as over-coming that feeling of extreme depression. I have a sister with similar illnesses and she just began a blog about them to help herself, and in the hope that she can also help others. My own site focusses on ways to build a positive life in spite of these obstacles. I've found it to be a good "therapy" of sorts. Might doing something similar be a help to you? My thoughts and prayers are with you always...I hope you know that by now. With great affection, Karen

Hello Ann. What a wonderful thing to strive for. I miss planting things in the ground, but am happy to have certain things in pots on the patio instead. I think it is nice for anyone who can, to have a 2nd home or a special place to retreat, rest, play, and recharge their energies. I hope you bring that to a reality in the future Karen

I have spent 7 long hard years, running my own business, to provide for my children, who live with me (i am a single mum) i was determined not to live on the state, and really did work so hard. So hard that last year i thought i was gonna have a heartattck, my son (age 7 yrs) constantly says "why do you have to work so hard mum", all through the school holidays - i am working - From Home, but working from home is harder than going out to work (for me anyway), because i am always working, i cant get away from it. Any way The change in my life would be to give my 3 children MORE TIME. So Ive done it, 3 weeks ago I decided to close down my business and give that time to the little ones, and i am going to work part time in the evenings as a sole trader instead of a company. :-)

Hello Bunny. Single working moms carry such a huge load! In that, my heart goes out to you. I think you were wise to rearrange that load so that you can be with your children more often. I hope your new way of working/parenting will bring a measure of peace and happiness to you and your children. God bless you. Karen

I wish that I could control my temper and not jump to conclusions about people or events - that's two things actually. I loose my temper too often and too easily, and since I am very quick with my mind, I often jump to conclusions about what the other person or a sequence of events is leading to and then either loose my temper or take action that may not be warranted by the situation, I am wrong sometimes.

Hello Tarachand. I used to have quite the temper, but the anger began to wear on my health...that, and I would always feel such guilt after an outburst of "rotten" words. I took steps not to anger quickly, and to use healthy outlets for what anger I did still have at times. And it helps to think things through and weigh the facts before coming to conclusions. Perhaps you would similar measures to be a help. May your day be a happy one! Karen

I'm pretty lucky, everything in my life is pretty great. The only thing I would really want to change is to get a bigger house. We're ready to start thinking about buying our second home but we're still probably a year or two (at least) away from making it happen. We have kind of grown out of our three bedroom rancher and something with a basement and fenced yard would be nice. I would like to be in a new house for a while before we start thinking about kids so that would definitely be the change I would like the most.

Hi there. I am totally unhappy with my appearance and body structure. I am a thin boy with near to 7 feets height. I have an ugly face. So if i would get the chances to change then definitly it would be. As i am a lecturer, a few persons treat me as a lecturer bcoz i am not look like a college teacher.

Hi Shibham. I do not think anyone is "ugly," though we sometimes feel that we are. One of the hardest things to do is accept and love ourselves just as the Creator has made us. As I have gotten older, there was a time I felt ugly, and so I made myself stand before a mirror each day, just becoming familiar with myself and what I look like. The more I did this, the more I saw that I had many good things about my looks that I might have missed before, and then I no longer felt that I looked ugly. Be proud of your height, and if you gain confidence in yourself and respect of yourself, I think others WILL indeed see you as the educated college teacher that you are. Perhaps you could also get familiar with how you look as a whole person and not just look at what you think are flaws about yourself. I wish you a very good day, and a life of appreciating the person you are. Regards, Karen
