When I was younger I was fond of going around our neighborhood and usually I've chased by an angry dogs in our neighborhood specially to those who just newly delivered their puppies. I was being told by my parents that I would be chased by an angry dogs you would have to sit and don't run because the more the dog would chase you. I applied this a lot and it was working here in our place. I am not sure about some other places if the instinct of our dogs here still the same as yours... Hey I am just curious, is this applicable in some other places that has so many dogs in the neighborhood? Please share...

Interesting ! One dog, not angry did chased me when I was 8 yrs old. I was screaming franticly, grabbed a stone on the side of the street try to hit the dog, and crap,,,it missed. Luckily there was a tree. I never climbed so high in my life like that day. I was crying so bad on that tree until my dad come and got me down...

if i was a child i'd run to safety, but being an adult i'd confront the dog and if it attacked me so be it,but i'd make sure the dog came of worse than me

I have a phobia with dogs and whenever there's a dog approaching me, I get panicked and I run. It started when I was bitten by one of our neighbor's dogs. I was young ang I was playing and then the ball I was playing accidentally bounced over their fence. I was nine years old then. It was a very traumatic experience.

Hello Martin, I never had any experience being chased by an angry dog...hahahaha,that would be scary i guess. But i also heared that from my grandpa that if you were being chased by an angry dog all you have to do is sit and not to run away. But,i don't think i can remember that advice for an instant once i saw an angry dog coming towards me,i guess my first reaction would be to run away as fast as i could...but,i am always wearing my 4inches heels...hahahha

That would be funny I think. Running fast from an angry big dog. Yes that was also an advised from my grands, if you would be chased by an angry dog you would just sit down rather than continue running and it was effective...he he he thanks for responding jaiho...

In our society there aren't dogs nowadays, but when we first moved to our our current place, then we found out many street dogs roaming about none were taking care of them.My small cousin sister felt this a bit scary and she ran out to the other side of the road thus one dog came hopping to her and this made her cry the dog wasn't much ferocious and came as jovial, but we got scared because my cousin was only 5 years old. If i would have been chased by an growling and barking dog ,then i would get to a wall or a tree rather than getting to the dog,yet I love dogs .

Dogs must be dealt with very patiently,if its a ferocious one then never imagine to even to hurt it and get away, because on doing so the dog becomes even more ferocious. How many times are u been bitten by dogs, where the dogs owned by you or others? bye see you.

I hate dogs who barks at us without any reason. Of course, its their natural way to deal with things that they don't recognize. I used to use a trick whenever a dog barks at me or try to follow me and that is; I will bent down and act like i am picking something, then i show as if i am throwing something at it. Most of the time the dog runs away. This has always been fun and a great way to get rid of irritating dogs. So if an angry dog chases me i'll try to use the same technique.

Looks like we have lived in the same environment. eh. BTW i also had another technique for dogs that don't go away when i used the above technique. Dogs that are not scared by the above technique usually follows close on your heels, so what i would do is run for some time and suddenly lift one of my left...that is knee high..this technique gives the bad dog a nice jab on his jaws and is taken aback by surprise. Before his surprise is over, i am far away safe and happy :)

In some cases if u sit u could be in trouble. If the dog has been trained in guard or security the animal will bite if u r on their property, they r trained that way. In most cases if u run from a dog u have just given your butt as a target.

I've never really considered this before! I guess I would look for something to fend it off with. I know that the chances of me outrunning a dog are slim to none, so I better get somewhere safe or find something or someone to help. I never heard of sitting down. I guess if it works with bears and could work with dogs too. Thanks for the insight!

If I was chased by a dog,I won't run.The faster you run,the more the dog will chase you.Instead,I will give the dog some fod to eat and scatter them .Then I will leave without its attention. Happy lotting!

In my area, you are not allowed to have a dog running loose in the neighborhood to begin with. If the Animal Control people are called they will come take it in to the shelter and test the animal to see if it can be adopted out to a good home or if it's temperment is such that it must be put down. There are leash laws in my neighborhood that say if your dog is not on your property (in the house or fenced yard, etc.) that it must be on a leash at all times unless you are at a dog park. I have been chased by dogs before when I was younger and have been bitten by my own animals before when they are startled or hurt, but that is the way of a dog and I do not blame the animal for doing what comes naturally to it. STanding your ground often works because most dogs who chase are after the flight response from whatever they are chasing. If you do not show fear, the animal will usually back down and leave.
