New legislation requires proof of citizenship for all campaigning for President.

The irony that Haley pointed to, however, was Obama's campaign on "transparency" and "accountability" and his subsequent refusal to "disclose even the simplest form" proving his ability to meet constitutional requirements of a president. Those demands include the president be a "natural born" citizen. Haley confirmed Franks today joined the list of supporters of the demand for proof from future candidates. Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, became the 11th supporter of the plan by Rep. Bill Posey, R-Fla. The provisions of H.R. 1503 are straightforward: "To amend the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 to require the principal campaign committee of a candidate for election to the office of President to include with the committee's statement of organization a copy of the candidate's birth certificate, together with such other documentation as may be necessary to establish that the candidate meets the qualifications for eligibility to the Office of President under the Constitution." The bill also provides: "Congress finds that under … the Constitution of the United States, in order to be eligible to serve as President, an individual must be a natural born citizen of the United States who has attained the age of 35 years and has been a resident within the United States for at least 14 years." The sponsors' goal is to have the bill become effective for the 2012 presidential election. The legislation now is pending in a committee of the U.S. House of Representatives. Other cosponsors are Reps. Kenny Marchant, R-Texas; Dan Burton, R-Ind.; Ted Poe, R-Texas; Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn.; John Campbell, R-Calif.; John R. Carter, R-Texas; John Culberson, R-Texas; Bob Goodlatte, R-Va.; and Randy Neugebauer, R-Texas. But nobody cares about this anymore, right?

This should have been the law to begin with. If it had been, 0bama would never have been elected in the first place... including not having been elected to the Senate. I notice that this seems to be supported by a lot of republicans, yet I see no Demonrats listed. I guess that tells us something as well. If this passes, then 0bama will eventually be found out, and if he really is not eligible then charges will be filed, and we will have a serious Constitutional Crisis on our hands, as every law, every appointment, and every treaty ... everything done by him will have been an illegal act and will be null and void. More people care about this issue than the propaganda machine would have us believe.

Because he used the courts to eliminate his opponents in Illinois... then there is the fact that he perjured himself when he stated on the paperwork that he had never used any other name. Think about it... if the truth had been known, he would never have been elected. Illinois is STILL waiting on that birth certificate.

Why would he not have been elected a Senator? The constitution says nothing about requiring a Senator to be a naturalized citizen, at least that I know of.

Those things he did with or without a valid birth certificate. He could have easily done those things even if he did come forth with a foreign birth certificate, I don't think it would have stopped him from getting elected as Senator. It definitely wouldn't have precluded him from being eligible to be a Senator.

I'm glad at least something positive is being done because of the ongoing birth certificate issue. Hopefully something will eventually break in the current efforts to substantiate Obama's citizenship status and he will be required to submit to full disclosure.

I am hoping for a resolution soon too. There is a court case to be heard on 9/8/09 in front of a Judge Carter. But I can't help but wonder if we will find our selves in a worse mess if he is made to step down. Biden or Pelosi? Oh NO!

If he steps down they should hold a special presidential election to finish out his term, since the democratic party didn't present a viable candidate in the last election. His vp should also be nullified since Obama had no right to choose a vp, being a fraud himself, and Nancy Pelosi shouldn't even be considered under the circumstances.

She is the speaker, which the Constitution says would be the next in line. And there is no legit reason to disqualify her. Is there?

I hope it passes. Wouldn't it be funny if BHO was unable to run for re-election due to such a law?

All I know is he'd have to do something astounding for this issue to 'go away'. The propaganda machine is working hard to discredit and dismiss it...but everything I am reading points to it not going away. Then again...people backed by BIG money have made other things go away. It is my hope that the American upswelling of anger over being duped and lied to will force the issue...I know even one congressman has looked into the possibility of a lawsuit to force the president's hand. I sincerely hope that when and if it is proven he's a fraud....we can handle the crisis that ensues...just take a look at who is in line for the office. I would hope we'd have an emergency election....in which an INDEPENDENT would be elected.
