Does Your Cat Tip Over Their Food Or Water Dish?

I have had my cat Jinx for about a year and a half he is such a sweetie very mild mannered and gentle nothing out of the ordinary that cats do but recently he started tipping over his water dish he's had this dish for several months and now with no incident and now all of a sudden he just keeps tipping it over . At first I thought it was an accident until one day I actually saw him do it. Since then I have placed it in a way that he can't tip it over by wedging it between two tight spaces where he can still have easy access to it but can't tip it over anymore.

Has something changed in your house? Anything - placement of furniture even - no matter how simple on inconsequential to you, it may be bugging Jinx. My Remmy was doing that a few years ago - he was making us nuts! Food and water bowls he did it with, and he made such a mess! This was years ago, and I honestly can't remember what the thing was... it was so simple though, and when we changed it back, he was fine. It was really funny - we couldn't believe it was all over something so easy to fix. Good luck!

Hi NIKIGIRL Thanks for the suggestion I didn't think about that! We did move his water and food dish and we put a rug under it to catch the messes that he always makes while he eats he likes to take some of the food out of the dish and eat it off the floor. lol he has always done this ,so I put a rug under it to catch it I think I removed it and put his dish back where it was he hasn't tipped anything over yet maybe that was it I sure hope so.

I have some online cat friends and several have cats that think the water dish is the proper place to put toys when they are finished with them. I don't but have found a toy or 2 in it, not often, my guess would be that Rygel would fish them out if they did end up in there... I have some that kind of push the water dish, or pat the surface to see what the level is. Now, Rio likes to drink from the far side of the dish, so she's stretched all the way across the bowl to drink from the far edge.
