Have you ever had a supernatural/paranormal experience?

I love those things. I'm very open minded and I really like to think that life and the universe are just so big and complex that we, even with all the science, are probably seeing only the top of the iceberg. I guess there's just too much "out there" that is considered amazing and fantastical. But space travel was considered impossible and fantastical some centuries ago too. The thing is... I never saw any ghost, nor had any "weird" experience. Please tell me what kind of experience you had, or if it happened with someone close to you. If you don't believe this stuff, tell me the whys.

Yes I have. As a small child I used to have tea parties with someone I called the old man. My mom thought it was an imaginary friend I invented because I had never met my father's dad at that point. We later found out when I was sixteen and saw a bunch of old family pictures that it was a great great great grandfather from civil war times. I recognized him on the spot, went pale and sat down staring until my mom asked what was wrong. I pointed to the picture and told her that was the old man I used to have tea parties with for so long as a child. She was a skeptic until that day. My family in general seems to have somewhat of an afinity for this sort of thing, as my father believes he saw a demon when he was a small child and extremely ill, and my mother has recently had an experience in her own home of seeing an old woman walk past one of her windows after my father bought an antique picture that nobody else in the family felt comfortable around. They have since sold it and she has never seen her since, nor does she feel that there is anything there anymore. I have had MANY experiences throughout my life that I would not be able to describe as anything but supernatural or paranormal. I love this topic and have ALWAYS been fascinated by this as I have lived around it most of my life. My family has premonition style dreams at times (mostly the women), and the men are usually skeptics until they experience something first hand, but probably 80% of my family has experienced one thing or another in their lives that they could not explain... my mother's side has this phenomena more prevalently than my father's. Do I think I am psychic?... No... can I sense when something is there?... Yes.

Oh my god, it's really obvious that your family has some special sensitivity that lacks in the rest of us. I would love to have that kind of experience, cause I'm also fascinated by the topic, but I never had. I've heard that when a person is special that way, it generally begins in younger ages. Children have a more pure mind, not that much information and memories and rational thoughts, so I guess it's the perfect time to develop those kind of senses. Premonitions are something that I'm positively sure exists. My father and mother have them constantly, but I never had one (I think).

Thanks for the reply. I personally think everyone has these abilities, but few can handle the thought of them (too scared of it) and so they block it out, or it is "trained" out of them at an early age. How many times do parents tell their children "It's not real" "there's no such thing" "You were just dreaming"? Eventually when you hear it enough as a child, it becomes the truth for you and you learn to ignore those senses. Sort of along the same lines as a mom who tunes out certain cries from her children because she knows they are not truly in distress, but everyone around her rushes to see what's wrong. I believe you can re-learn these abilities even as an adult, but it takes an open mind and heart, as well as a true belief that anything is possible. I think many places have a "feeling" about them, such as claustrophobic (even in a large room), or frightening (but its a beautiful place and there's no reason for that fear), etc. I think if you leanr to listen to these instincts, you will find that there is a lot more going on around you than you might have thought. Deja Vu falls into that instinct as well... maybe you dreamed this and forgot, so you feel as if you have lived it before (premonition). Thank you for the wonderful comments.

I cannot really say that I have had paranormal experiences but, twice when I was sleeping, I had some sort of lucid dream, where I thought that I was awake, when I was actually sleeping. And in that lucid dream, I was laying in my bed at night and I could not move. I then saw a deep figure move towards me, pressing on my back and I could not breath or scream. The next minute, I woke up and my heart was rushing. This really scared me. After further research, I found that I experience what was called "Sleep Paralysis". This occurs when your brain wakes up from the REM state but your body is still paralyzed. During this period, you can experience terrible hallucinations and an acute sense of danger.

This is a common thing. I personally went through Night Terrors all of my life (some people think they are the same but they are not), and used to sleep walk on a regular basis until I became an adult... it has been a lot less frequent since then. Night Terrors are when you have an extremely terrifying nightmare and force yourself awake (can't always do it), then if there is nothing to focus on in the room (I hate total darkness because of this) then the nightmare continues to play in front of your eyes like a movie reel. Extremely terrifying and almost immobilizing, but not the same as the crushing pressure and paralysis of "Sleep Paralysis". My mother was told that my sleepwalking was a direct result of the night terrors and I was actually trying to escape whatever was in my dreams. I woke up in many strange places, but almost never in my own bed as a child.

OMG both your cases are really new to me. Never heard of those. It must be UBER terryfying to wake and not be able to move, or to wake up and still in the same nightmare. It really reminds me of Freddy Krueger. Our minds play a lot of tricks (some of them really mea tricks), and maybe that's the case with a lot of paranormal experiences out there. But not all of them, I'm sure.

I have had many paranormal experiences in my life I have felt things, heard things, smelled things and seen things that would freak most people out but they are just normal for me anymore things moving on their own electronics turning on/off on their own even with any power supply unexplainable scents in the air voices when no one else is around seeing people that are not physically there

Hello friend, I am interested in supernatural stuff just like you are and I think it's a very interesting topic. I have never actually seen a ghost or goblin but I do believe there are Angels and demons all around us but they are not visible to the naked eye. Also I believe that there is a very real spiritual world at war all around us. I learned this information from reading the bible. Some of these evil spirits can get into our family members and friends and certainly our enemies at times trying to influence them to doing bad things. Happy mylot

there is more to this world than the what the bible talks about the bible was written centuries ago by narrow minded men in order to keep their people under their control if you just accept everything in the bible as absolute truth and dont look for more than you arent living life life is passing you by

You don't have to see ghost and weird stuff, energy is only seen by a few. All you have to do is feel it. I do this by getting up in the morning by thanking the universe for what it offers to me. Then I go through the day laughing at negative energy and living for the moment instead of what happened yesterday and what will happen in the next 30 seconds...and things go my way all day.

The house I grew up in, although not very old, had some strange things going on. There seemed to be some very negative energy that manifested itself in a variety of ways and none of my family particularly liked being there alone. My brother described a threatening presence which moaned loudly and chased him around the upstairs. I had things move in my room, like toys being thrown and the curtains being opened and sometimes when I went up to my room and stood outside the door I didn't want to go in because I could sense a presence inside.

As a spiritualist and tarot reader I have had a number of what people would refer to as supernatural or paranormal experiences, but I have come to think on them as part of my regular day. I can be talking, or typing and a message will just pop into my head, it means nothing to me - but it will mean something to the person I am communicating with. I read the mystic faerie tarot and work really well with this medium and area of the paranormal. Each person has their own area of the paranormal that will appeal to them - you need to find it and then find out more about it, open yourself to communicating with it... and you never know what will happen....
