Finding jobs after graduation

I wanted to ask others- how long it has taken any college graduates to find jobs after graduation? I am wondering because it took me 8 months to find a job after receiving my degree and I applied at almost 60 different facilities. I actively looked, posted resumes, followed up on my resumes, had great recommendation letters, but it seemed to take forever. I have read that it takes between 6-12 months on average for graduates to find jobs, but would like to know firsthand if others have experienced this too.

I actually had a full time job with good benefits and pretty OK pay before I had completely finished my degree. I got lucky though as a center that matched my profession was just built, I ended up moving to get the job and I was recieving the right qualifications for the job. I think it really depends on the person. Some people may get a job right away, some people may take weeks or months. I think it depends on how hard you work for it and how well you can impress employers at your interview.

That's the thing though- I did apply myself and did all the right things that any career counselor tells you to do. I graduated with a 3.9 GPA and with a MA in a field that is somewhat limited. I found a great job, but it was so frustrating to do EVERYTHING right, and have to go through that process for so long. I just wondered if anyone else had issues too.
