Not every one has a maid. You would be lucky and certainly rich to have a maid. So who washes the plates in the hose after meals? Is there a duty rooster? In my house, my children takes turn to wash the lates when they were young. Today, since everyone is working, we hardly cook at home. We buy food from nearby food courts. However, when we do cook, I usually end up washing the plates and my husband who is the designated chef in my house, won't do it. So who washes the plates i nyour house. Let us assume you do not have a maid or a dishwasher?

we take turns in washing dishes. sometimes i do it and sometimes i have my daughter to do it. im the one who always cook in our home, and if at certain times i find dishes on the sink, i wash it right away, instead of waiting for my daughter to wash it. although she has the designated task of washing dishes here, there are times that i dont let her especially when she got many homework to do from school.

I don't have a maid either.. and I am the cook of the house.. therefore, whenever I cook, I will do the first round of washing.. and later, for those who had the last meal, will wash up all the dishes.. In the event that we are able to have dinner together, then one of my brother will do the washing, since they have not involved in the initial washing during the cooking process.. I don't mind to wash while I cook, however after doing the cooking and eating, I just don't feel like moving again, so I leave it to the younger ones.. Or else, sometimes, my mum the one end up doing all the washing of the dishes..

In my house it is me and my daughter. I am the main cook and dishwasher to be sure. Still, she is really good about helping out also. It is "our" house and the upkeep is both of our responsibility. She is 15 and when I am at work, I will come home and find that she has done up dishes after herself and picked up the house. If something needs doing, we just do it. I don't leave her lists her anything...don't need to.

Well my children are only 5 and 3 years so far too little to be doing the dishes, although the 5 year old often likes to help but its more a fun game and more mess is usually made than cleared away to be honest but its all wonderful learning experience for her. Me and their dad take turns to wash the dishes just depends who is there at the time quite often he will do the dinner ones as I am bathing the girls.

gracefuldove, You are lucky your kids takes turn to wash the plates. In my house, no doubt there is only me, husband and little boy. Of course the little boy is only two so he can't wash his dishes. My husband? He treats like there is an invisible maid around. He'll just leave the plates in the sink hoping it will magically dissapear. And it will, only, not magic does it, it was me who washes all those!!!

Its not really assigned at my house, I am sure once my kids are old enough to help, we will assign days they have to do it. As for now, mostly me because I stay home but my husband is a great help, and he always helps out with all chores.

When my children were still young, I never experience washing the plates as we still have maid and besides there are relatives who stayed in the house that do household chores. I was then busy in sales, working to earn a living. Now however, that my children were grown ups and have jobs, there's no other recourse but for me to do the dishwashing. My other daughter is pregnant before we took turns in washing but lately she's quite lazy so am the one doing it. Good for you you have your husband as your chef, me being a widow, I am the chef and at the same time, the dishwasher.

Every woman in the house except the guys! The men do wash the plates, but very seldom. When you said 'designated' chef, I experienced the same thing, when my hubby cooks, I will do the washing part. However, when I cook, I am the one who will do the washing part as well! Sometimes, he will help me, but I guess it always depends on his mood.

Hi, WE prefer to eat out, no need to cook, no need to wash! However, if anyone wishes to cook, the cook will wash the wok, pan after cooking. Whoever eat will wash his /her own plates, bowls, spoons & forks. The final part, clearing all the dishes plates, etc will be my mum because she always like to be the last one to eat. She will clear everything :) It is really nice to have my mum around...she is a good cook too!

When I was married the first time my ex husband used to say that we had the bes dishwasher in town "my two hands". I always wanted a dishwasher. My mom and two sisters have one and I really wanted one. not because of jealousy but because there are some things a woman wants and needs to help with the housecleaning a dishwasher is one of them. When I got with my current husband we would get loan money back every year from me going to school, that is one thing I requested to do with some of my loan money was to get a dishwasher. I went to Sears and purchased one after we bought our mobile home. It even has a santizer on it. It really helps me to do other things needed in the house, because it elevates the washing and drying. Now i can put dishes in, clean other parts of my house and have extra time for mylot and other computer needs.

I do most of the washing up as my boyfriend hates doing it and he does most of the cooking, so it is a fair arrangement. He is a trained chef so I love his cooking, although I do like to play about in the kitchen sometimes. My parents had a similar arrangement, my mum always cooks and my dad washes up. When my brother and I lived at home we did the drying up.

Either my mother or me when i'm asked to. I really don't think of it as a big deal. it's just 30 minutes of work ,nothing special. The only thing that bothers me from time to time is the washing of some burnt up food...it is simply murder.

if that is the case , i wud make sure that i use a limited number of plates and utensils for cooking, and the ones used in the morning shall be used for the whole day, that is if i eat something in the morning on a plate, the same plate is washed and then its used for the lunch also, similarly with the stuff for cooking, all of it is from the recycling technique.....
