My daughter starts kindergarten the day after Labor Day and she has requested that I go into work late and take her to her class. Perfectly understandable. My plan is to take her to Ihop for breakfast and then take her to her class. I was wondering if I should get a present, I was thinking a little watch charm to hook onto her bookbag, to celebrate her big day. What do you think? Did you get your child a present on their first day of Kindergarten?

Yes, we need to show them that we are very happy in her first day of school especially that he or she leave you in the school with out crying. We need to appreciate what she did and gave her a rewards so that she will be eager to come to school daily.

that is the way I was looking at it. A way to let her know that it is special day and I am proud of her.

My Daughter is also starting Kindergarten on Labor day, she is so exicted. I haven't gotten her any present, I think that just the fact that she is starting kindergarten its enough for her. HOW EVER I did mentioned to her I would get a clock for her room so she can know what time to go to sleep so she can get up early and get ready. She LOVED the idea and now I will have to go and get 1 for her.

So you are getting her something special, an alarm clock, for starting kindergarten. Same theory as a watch for bookbag

In my honest opinion, I think taking your daughter out for breakfast and then taking her to school yourself is a good enough gift to celebrate her first day of kindergarten. When my daughter was in kindergarten last year, I took her for her first day of school and I took the camera with me and on the first day of school I took a picture of her and her teacher on the first day of school and then I did the same thing again on the last day of school. As far as gifts to celebrate the big day, my daughter thought that it was gift enough to get to spend the time with me shopping for school supplies and getting to pick out her own backpack and lunchbox.
