MyLot Questions...

Hi everyone! I'm new to myLot and read all the information I could find about this website, but I still don't completely understand it. I have some questions I was hoping someone could answer. I clicked on task and picked one and typed my four paragrahs and it's pending. My question is, is that the only way to make money on here or do you get paid to start discussions? And if you do get paid to start discussions, how does that go, is it only if you receive a response? Please let me know. Any information would be helpful. Thanks...

Hi Roxanne and welcome... I joined a week ago so here is the best advice I got in a nutshell! 1 - Enjoy posting... 2 - Start by replying to posts that interest you and build up some friends 3 - Reply to the replies you get... 4 - When confident start a discussion 5 - Always reply to the responses 6 - You get paid for the quality of your post not the quantity of words! 7 - Pick a best response, it helps the rating of the poster 8 - Rate the responses with the + / - again this can increase or reduce the rating of the poster 9 - Enjoy posting! LOL... Good luck and have fun :o) O.... P.S. You can't add similies until about 100 posts I think... You can't copy paste until 500 posts....

If you read the MyLot FAQs (second from the end in the tabs above discussion boxes)it explains how you can earn from creating discussions like this one, or from commenting on other people's discussions (as I'm doing here) To reach payout takes an awful lot of effort, as each post you do is very low earning - but it mounts up. Tasks pay far better - though they may be returned if they're not up to scratch (from your discussion, I don't think that will be a problem for you, as your English is very good!)So a lot of us combine the two to maximise our earnings. You get paid for every discussion you start, apart from those which break MyLot protocol (pointless one liners etc)This applies even if you get 0 replies. However, the more replies you get, the higher your earnings go. If your posts get positively rated, this increases earnings too - and if you get a best reply they shoot up. Rate other people's discussions, and you will get rated by return - ratings are just one of the many new topics that have sprung up recently. Not that many people here even bother with tasks. Me - I love them! (but only Sharon Bucks' one dollar ones) as

I should have said, you also get earnings for posting photos. I've not done this yet, but I'm going to start.

Thank you for all the advice. It helped alot. I have a couple more questions, if you know the answer to them. Can we change our user name? and what is the myLot code about?

'You get paid for every discussion you start, apart from those which break MyLot protocol (pointless one liners etc)This applies even if you get 0 replies. However, the more replies you get, the higher your earnings go.' Here we get paid for our own activity. If you atart a discussion and it receives 0 responces it will earn you nothing. It will earn if it receives 1 response and 1 comment or 2 responses. After that even if it receives 100 rsponses, you will not earn from them, The user who posted will earn. YOU will earn if you go and comment, with a quality comment, on each of them. That is what makes it a discussion.

You are paid for: 1) Responding to others' discussions 2) Commenting on responses 3) Starting discussions (but only when it receives at least one response) 4) Adding images to posts (only available when you reach 500 posts as shown by the number next to your name). There is no set amount 'per post'. What you are paid depends on a complicated and proprietary algorithm which takes into account the quality of the post and a number of other factors. We are not told how it defines 'quality' (and, indeed, we aren't supposed to discuss this algorithm).

LOL @ 'a tenth of a tuppence'. I guess we are rewarded for effort, after all, then. I have never (I think) posted just one discussion and nothing else in a day and, in any case, the Earnings don't show anything less than cents, so how you knew about 'a tenth of a tuppence' (i.e. $0.002), I have no idea! I'm sorry nobody is interested enough in TV programs about glassmaking to have responded to your discussion. Our audience, however, is largely from India, the Far East and the US. Britain (and people interested in British TV) comes fairly low down! On the whole, the standard of discussions here has slipped, I believe. I find it difficult to find one discussion a day, even, which I think it's worth responding to ... but that could be just me and my evaluation. I spend quite a lot of time 'policing' worthless discussions (for which there is no reward) and this activity could easily be the reason why I rarely find anything worthwhile here! Then again, perhaps I ought to look at discussions my 'friends' make more often than I do!

My very first post here got zero responses, but earned me a tenth of a tuppence. Have MyLot changed this, then? Seems unfair if they have. Snot my fault nobody here is interested in TV programs about glass factories ...

I admit, it was a made up amount. I can't remember exactly how many zeros followed the point, but I logged it just the same. I was young and naive back then. I actually kept spread sheets logging all my earnings (sigh)When I first joined here I had a lot to say. I thought people would be interested (sigh, sigh)

First off - WELCOME TO MYLOT!! Secondly - Tasks are just one of the many ways you can earn money here on Mylot. It's actually the newest way to earn. The number one way people earn here on Mylot is by starting discussions and posting responses to others discussions. You can also upload pictures to earn money. Good luck with your first task! That would be a great way to start your membership here - I hope it is approved!! Happy Mylotting!

Roxanne...You are getting some wonderful advice from the mylotters. I still kinda new and there ain't much that I can add. Just remember is always best and shows that you are friendly when you make a comment to everyone that makes a comment on your discussion. I wish you luck and personally myself I really enjoy this site. I believe that I could go as far as saying that Im addicted to mylot.

Hi Roxanne, I'm relatively new here too and trying to navigate around. I guess what I still don't understand is the rating system and how to do it? I've now started a few discussions here that people have responded to. Well, am I supposed to rate ever single response I get, or just the top best response and put a 10 next to it or something? That's what I'm confused about.

Hello roxanne2009 Welcome to mylot I would say since you are new you should start by responding to other posters discussions this way you can make a few friends as well as learn from them, doing task is fine as well, I would not start discussions until you have some friends that will respond to these discussions, you will make money as long as you respond to other posters discussions for a little while, make sure your responses are good enough that they will respond to you and so on and so forth, if you don't see a discussion you want to respond too look at your interest and respond from something there, its really easy to find something to talk about here Good luck to you.

Hi there, welcome here in mylot, anyway you can earn money here not only by doing task but also by doing discussion. I have to tell you that i dont really make discussions i mean only when i have something to share usually happy things that happened in my life. I earned here by giving responses to any discussion that i have interest, remember that if you will give discussions or responses it should have quality or quantity. Me i often give responses atleast 4 liners and it has connection with the discussion, if you made a discussion have time to answer or give feedback again to whom answered your discussion just like chatting you can earn money that way, well hope i can make sense here and hope you in a way, keep on mylotting

Hi Roxanne, It looks like some fellow Mylotters have answered most of your questions, but I wanted to addressed one of your last ones. MyLot code is how people post emoticons and change text to be bold, italic, and underlined. I actually just learned this myself today. You will need to have a 200 in those parentheses next to your name before you can use the MyLot code. Welcome to MyLot and best of luck! :)
