Finding A Replacement For Harry Potter

We are still in the Harry Potter era, but only just, with all the books finished and just two films left to show, do you think that there will be a big void which Harry Potter will leave once the 8th film has been shown at the cinemas? With the last film showing in 2011 we still have a couple of years left of looking forward to Harry Potter coming to life again on the big silver screen, but once it's all the over, the phenomena we call Harry Potter has finished then what? There will be no book 8, there will be no more films after 2011, so what next? Will there be another wizard, another fantasy adventure to fill Harry's Boots, do you think someone other than J.K.Rowling herself will bring back Harry to life again or certainly Hogwarts open for another term with new heroes and new villains to fight? Or is that chapter going to be permanently closed, in other words Harry Potter, Hogwarts and the House Elfs will be no more, disappated, vanished and never to be heard of again, it's so final isn't it? Like Harry Potter has died or will have died. But obviously the films will be shown continually long past 2011 and the books will probably be read by other generations and brought back to life again and again and again and Harry Potter will become one of the 'classics' in centuries to come! But should their be a replacement for Harry, should there be another wizarding phenomenon, another J.K Rowling out there who at this very moment is penning a new fantasy adventure, a new collection of books? What do you reckon, can Harry Potter be replaced, is there going to be more from the wizarding world we know but without Harry Potter Or do you think the wizard world has closed it doors forever on Hogwarts and everything Harry Potter and the Ministry stood for?

Harry potter not be back again, and also any author who tries to bring any similar thing back, readers will just call it as a copy of Harry Potter stories. So, now authors will come out with some other story in a different fantasy world. Already the vampire stories are in their best these days, it has got many fans and is being compared to J K Rowling's popularity. They say twilight series has now got as many fans as Harry Potter series now! I hope some or the other author will keep on taking up the position of the Best one in future as well, and we will keep getting lots of good books to read. May be in future, the books might be more sci-fi type as technology is progressing and we are inventing lots of new things! So, books will be based on those things mostly.

I am not keen on vampires to be honest, but hey we can't all like the same thing. You never know in a few years J.K Rowling might change her mind and bring Harry Potter back to life again, stranger things have happened. I mean look at Star Wars, that was brought out again, after the long gap between Episode 6 and Episode 1.

Hi wolfie, I think that the Harry Potter books including the movies that followed were a great idea in their time but I think that this period may be over unfortunately. I have all the books and I believe I have read all of them at least twice now, I will return to them again at a later date. Through Harry Potter I have learnt about the author J.K. Rowling and I really do like her writings. If she decides to write anything else I will really pay attention as I would love to read more of her works. I think that the Harry Potter phase is definitely over but the books are definitely timeless and I shall treasure my Harry Potter books, they are beginning to gather dust now but that can easily be blown away when I want to seek my next adventure through those pages! This is always a problem when people outlive the author's efforts with highly successful work. I will miss all the never-to-be sequels to the James Bond books and all the books John Le Carre will not be writing as he gets into his latter years. There will be others to take the place of all these great writers. That has always happened even though we feel it might not. Meanwhile we can enjoy all the repeats.

And generations to come will be able to relive the Harry Potter experience as we have done, so in fact he does live on.

I think the Harry Potter series as well of the story of the author is a once in a lifetime thing. I don't think there we be anything quite like Harry Potter that would fit in that genre. One in a million chance it would happen and have the affect that it did. It makes me sad to think we will never again hear of Hogwarts and those wonderful characters, but it doesn't sound like JK Rowlings has any interest in continuing. But she has said never say never. But I would doubt anything could have the same affect that these 7 wonderful books have had on us and our children!

So true! I don't think anything or anyone can match the powers that Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling have given to this world, it's life a gift of a lifetime, a rare and precious gift that we can treasure but never replace.

Although the 'harry potter',the face of the enemy's courage and indomitable perseverance, loyalty to friends are all commendable, but negative effects,is far more than the positive.

There will be something else to come along and fill the gap, there always is. When I was growing up everything was about Star Wars but inevitably that came to an end and other things took over. There will always be stories and films that capture the public imagination at a particular time and it is fascinating waiting to see what will come next.

And look at the gap between the first three Star Wars films and the second, so anything is possible, J.K. Rowling may even have a change of heart and we could in maybe ten or twenty years time see more Harry Potter, we'll have to wait and see! You never know there could even be more Star Wars films in the making, here's hoping!

I don't know if there will be anything that will come along that will replace Harry Potter but I truly hope that there will be one. I'm already tired of all the vampire novels that are filling the market. I'm not big on vampires and I'm tired of how vampires are all that exist. I feel like vampire novels are really making the market rather one sided and most of the writers are terrible at their job and I can't figure out why they're even popular right now. I think it's time that wizards and witches truly make a come back. I think once Harry Potter disappears that something will have to come back and replace the hole. Harry Potter has just kept the market saturated enough because the material is so great it actually is keeping people satisfied enough until the next great wizarding classic comes along.

I hope the effects and popularity of Harry Potter opens the doors to other budding writers and we will see more fantasy witches and wizards stories come to light in the future. Oh and I can't stand vampires either, boring, just pass me the garlic LOL!

I don't think there will ever be a book that can replace Harry Potter... the whole world is such a phenomenon that i always think that J.K. Rowling is a squib and this is her only way in connecting with the wizarding world she created... My three year old daughter is already showing great interest in the Harry Potter world... and a few years from now... for sure she will be reading the books and watching the movies with full attention... just wish J.K. Rowling will continue on writing about the wizarding world... it is so difficult to accept that it has come to an end with book seven...

I dont think Harry Potter era will come to an end. Well, i supposed the movie will end late this 2011 since the last book was divided into two parts. I believe that Harry Potter phenomenon will live forever for sure. I am one of an avid fan of Harry Potter. I was 12 when i first read and watched the book and right now i completed all the books. Right now i'm turning 20 and i'm planning to give my harry Potter collection to my future children as what my mother did when she shared the stories of snow white, sleeping beauty, beauty and the beast and lot more bed time stories.

That is great when we are able to pass down treasures to our generation, that way Harry Potter does indeed live on! I am sure he will still be read and watched in the next century!

hi wolfie, ha ha ha !!! i was thinking of this ... i wanted to comercialize the elephant-headed god Lord Ganesh - explore his life as all the mythological tales include how he received his elephant head; he is mischeovious and the same time teaches lots of lessons. Of course Indian god must have "magic" + "Magic" + "MAGIC" my character list - Demi Moore - Mother Brad Pitt - Father i havent got the younger characters yet !! how is it ... PARTNERS ?? cheers

Wow, I see you have a very good creative head about you! I love magic, isn't a shame that humans can't perform real magic, but then I guess a lot of humans would put it to bad uses! Maybe you could use Leonardo Di Caprio in your character line up, he is my all time hero and he is very versatile! I am not keen on Brad Pitt to be honest

I don't think Harry Potter cannot be replaced by any other novels, same thing as LOTR, Narnia, Twilight or Dan Brown's Robert Langdon's novel cannot be replaced. Every novel has it own place in this world and has its own characteritics which made it well known to the society. As for magical or fantasy novels you might check out Bartimaues Trilogy, Abarat or Artemis Fowl, they are great novels which also best seller.

I believe the harry porter story is a never ending story. But its always a movie that can make me sit watching the flat dark screen for 2 hours, even after reading the novel from front to back.

Hey there! A very warm welcome to Mylot to you! I never get tired of reading or watching the movies, although I did find the Half Blood Prince film a little disappointing the book more than made up for it and besides I think the other films were fantastic enough.
