Do you think it is bad to put down a senator on the day of his memorial

Today, Senator Kennedy a champion of civil rights and of the American working class had his memorial today after dying of brain cancer. And today I had the misfortune to accidently tune inte Rush Limbaugh and hear his put downs of Senator Kennedy and quite frankly I was offended... I was even more offended when I heard other Conservative talk show hosts doing the same thing... I ask you what this country is coming to when a person who has served the country in the best way that he could and a person who was called the "great compromiser" as he was able to work well with both Repubicans and Democrats and who was the friend of both is treated with such distain. Seems to me it says a lot about those Conservative Republican talk show hosts as they had not the decency to refrain from doing this on the day of his memorial... And they call themselves "Christian" ... sounds like a misnomer to me. They are, in my estimation, callous, nasty, without decency and cruel. I believe they deserve some protest, boycotts and censure for their actions today and yesterday. I for one am boycotting the stations that aired that crap and thus will not be listening to the advertisers on those shows. I urge others to do the same. I am wondering if you think, like me that it is inappropriate, distainful and wrong to treat a deceased senator who has faithfully served the Nation for many years the best way that he knew how with such disrespect? Do you think that the stations that aired those shows should be penalized by boycotts?

This is very common on right wing hate radio, they don't care what someone did, nor do that they care that this man was respected on both sides of the isle. He was a democrat, and these idiots attack anything democratic. The best thing to do is to boycott these stations, and let their sponsers know that you are. This worked out very well with Glenn Beck, he lost 16 major sponsers and almost 10 others.

Thanks for your support on that... I will boycott them during the day light hours and listen only at night to the station when the right wingers are not there. Telling the station of my decision is the next step.

I think Beck's lost over 40 now! I sent a couple letters myself about him. I'm going to get to work on Limbaugh now. Annie

White, this is the best way to explain to people why you have stopped listening, and for the sponsers it shows them the audience that they are losing. This is a doubled edged sword for the sponser, not only are they losing potential customers, but they are also losing existing customers who won't use their product because of who they are spending their money with. This can do alot of damage to the target, and the corporations.

It's so sad that the fatmouth can't even shut his lips for a few days and allow people to morn. I think that until there is a full boycott of the stations that he will continue to say whatever he wants no matter how disrespectful it is.

I think Rush Limbaugh is an absolute disgrace to humanity! He has no respect or compassion for anyone other than those who share his narrow views. I don't think I've ever been as angry or disgusted at anyone as I have at him on several occasions and this one is no exceptions although I didn't hear his hateful words this time but I read about some of them. I'm working on an e-mail to the station that carries his show and the other right-wing hosts that chose to imitate his classless and cruel style. I'm also going to try to get a list of sponsors including local sponsors for his show and contact them. To anyone who says he has the right to free speech, etc., I agree, he certainly does but those of us who find the things he chooses to say disgusting and tasteless also have the right to refuse to support those who pay him to say them. I must say it was interesting... Cannot say I agree with him totally... I do not think that the government is that bad and I do believe it can get better... Not sure about either about the divide and conquer... Sounds like throwing baby out with the bath water to me.

I only heard a tiny bit of Limbaugh's program, not enough to agree or disagree with you. I did hear him say he thinks the democrats are right and should name the health care bill for Kennedy. What did he say that you found so offensive? Did Limbaugh put down Kennedy or his policies?

He said that Kennedy did nothing good that he in fact was responsible for everything that is presently wrong in America... decried things like the minimum wage, his support of the poor etc. and those who followed him on the Clear Light Channel were equally bad in what they said.

Blaming him personally for all of the ills in America sounds like a personal attack to me... and that was not the worst that was said... He was vicious... Apparently he was vicious when he heard the he was ill too... He had no compassion or decency at all in doing this...

That sounds like a criticism of Kennedy's policies and not of him personally.

Hmmm, let's see, he was a womanizer, abused women, and is guilty of murdering at least one woman. He was a habitual drunk driver. He used his money and influence to get away with a life of crime and villainy. On the other hand, he did have very close friends on both sides of the aisle and the people who were close to him loved him dearly. So, since all of the above are true, why is it that we should only remember the good?

Go read the words of most people as Democrat Underground. You will see the hatred of many liberals in living color. No, I'm not saying all liberals, which is why I said, "Many". I am a bit hard on liberalism lately as I have some dear friends who have recently decided to hate me because I'm conservative.
