I get the whole smaller equals convenience, but I’ve seen a few really expensive Netbooks. What’s the point? Why not buy a regular size laptop?

I wouldn't say better, but more compact and heavily based on online uses. Some people simply can't afford regular laptops. Many are avid online users. Some just want to stay connected online.

I don't think so, A regular size laptop (notebook) is better than Netbook, I can say like that because from some aspects, such as performance, size, and price. 1. Size As we know if Netbook is a small Notebook, it's certainly smaller than Notebook. The size of Netbook screen just about 8" - 11", so it will make us not comfort when we use it, the small screen also effect to our eyes health. And we will feel more comfort when we use a big screen, right? 2. Performance Netbook use an Intel atom technology as the processor, The performance of this processor is lower than the usual/general processor that used by Notebook. So It is not recommended for do a hard/big task like gaming, 3D, editing video, editing picture, etc. It just recommended to run a small task, just like word processor, connect to internet, spread sheet, etc. If we force a Netbook to do a high task, it can harmful to the components and make Netbook broken faster. 3. Price From the price, most of Notebook are more expensive than Netbook, although it is not much. If we see from that difference, I recommend you to buy a Notebook, because it can do a harder task and the price is not too high. Hope this can help. Happy myLotting :-)

It really depends on what kind of task or computing one does the most.I have a netbook and a notebook. I use the netbook a whole lot when I travel. Its just so much easier to use while travelling. I can get my basic stuff on MS office done, plus I do a lot of work on the net,so a netbook is really handy. When it comes to heavy computing, then obviously that is not something a netbook can do.So then my Notebook is what I use. So both have their pros and cons. Plus, I prefer to carry my netbooks while travelling as if they get damaged coz of some reason they are cheaper so I would not feel as bad.,lol

I am currently using one, for the convenience of carrying it around to do my work. Well, it is cheaper than regular ones of course and so I can afford it better with my own money. And I seem to go about a lot so I'd say it's easier to have a mobile laptop that I can easily carry around. Regular laptops are harder to bring around. But well each type has its pros and cons.

A netbook can never be better in performance than a regular sized laptop of its counterpart. the ratio of performance / price is what buyers should concern. A netbook with an atom cpu can get most normal stuff done. An expensive Notebook may have advanced technology and will sooner be outdated. If you are not a programmer or 3D model maker just buy a portable netbook would be fine.
