Do you mend your clothes immediately when it is torn?

I have the habit of mending my cloth if it is torn due to any reason immediately. Many people have the habit of discarding that particular dress just because it is torn. If it is not a big one I try mending it at home or I give it to the tailor for darning. I value my cloths and due not throw them until they are totally worn out. How about you people? Do you throw away your dress just because it is torn or mend it?

I will mend them too because I value my clothes a lot and above all I know how to sue it too, I am even well with the sewing machine at home so for me it is such a little task to mend my own clothes.

That's very interesting that you know how to sew your own clothes. Where did you learn how to do this? Or did you learn on your own?

My mothere knows how to sew very well and she taught me so I can sew very well now, when I buy jeans sometimes they are too long so I cut them myself and sew them and even dresses too but what I really need to learn to to design a dress for myself and sew it myself, the whole of it.

wow you are very lucky that your mom passed that down to you. You can save a lot of money by sewing things back together. Unlike me where when it's torn or wore out I have to throw it away and buy a new one. If I try to cut something to make it shorter, it's always isn't a straight line. It's more like crooked. Good luck with learning how to make a dress!

I went for darning (the real darning and not mending) only once and find that it is really expensive. I went for it only because I liked the salwar a lot. It cost me Rs. 150 to darn a small hole and this happened theree years ago. I don't usually use mend clothes to wear outside the house. I use them for internal use.

Not immediatly but I do put it in a pile to be worked on later. I usually mend things like socks typically. Though I have a top I bought @ a rummage that the stitching on the sleeve just gave way on the 2nd time I wore it & I really like it. SO I"m going to give it a try hoping i can fix it by hand and that I have a similar color of thread already at home.

Well I don't really know how to mend, so I usually just throw my clothes away if they get torn. If it is torn it just shows that I have had them for too long and their ready to go into the trash.

No i do not throw the clothes away because they are torn. I try to mend it whenever i get time. But in case of emergency it mend it rightaway. Clothes to be mended by the tailor are kept separately so that we can give it to them once we have four or five at a time to be mended by him. A torn saree is given for darning immediately so that it does not get further mangled. Happy mylotting.

Hello, what you say is very correct. For me also my clothes are preccious and I will never throw them away just because they are worn out. When I see that it is torn a bit I always think that I should mend imediately. But I seem to postpone that every time and end up mending only after a long time Have a nice day

I bring mine to a seamstress just to make sure that it's repaired right.Ü I don't really have talent for mending my own clothes.
