If a person owns a piece of land do they own it all the way down to the core of the earth?

Good question. The answer is yes, you own it till the core unless you don't create problem to the neighboring plots by digging to the limit!

Doubtful. If you own a piece of land (at least one in a city) then there are likely sewage lines, water lines, cable/electrical lines running underneath your property providing those services to several homes on a block. Saying that you own all the way down to the core of the earth implies you could (if you wanted) dig a giant hole on your property and dig out all those pipes and cables. Try doing that and see what happens =)

Well, that is really some question! I really don't think they own it right down to the core of the Earth! Underneath the ground you have the mantel and then you will eventually reach the lava! Maybe they will own a portion of the lava underneath. This is an interesting topic to think about though! Andrew
