Aren't we all tired of those telemarketer calls, especially when we are on the Do Not Call registry? Well, I have news for you! I just read that the Federal Trade Commission has issued a new rule prohibiting Robocalls, calls that are computer generated. Telemarketers are allowed to call us only if we give written permission to allow the calls. (Yeah, like I'm going to give them permission to pester me)Violators will be fined $16000. per incident. At long last the b******s will stop bugging me!

I don't mind telemarketing calls as long as im not busy with something else. You never know, they might have a produch which you are planning to bye & can save you a lot of money. No one calls to give you a product worth $1 for $100!!. after all whats the harm in speaking to people. If you are busy then divert the call to answering machine . Simple

Wow you are a patient person! I loathe telemarketers. They have nothing I want to buy, nothing I can afford, I assure you, there are no savings they can offer me, shipping is an expense I don't need, and I don't trust that they are legitimate. I certainly wouldn't trust them with my credit card numbers. They start calling at 8 am and don't stop until 9 pm. I really don't appreciate it when they wake me from my hard won sleep and I dislike it when I drop whatever I am doing to answer the phone. They are infringing on my time and privacy. Yes I could let my answering machine get the call, but it beeps until I attend the calls, very annoying. I have no problem talking to people, I love to talk to people but not when they are trying to sell me something. Ordinarily I am a fairly nice, patient and gentle person but a telemarketer can bring out the angry demon in me like no one else can. I got on the Do Not Call registry for a reason and telemarketers are breaking the law and standing on my last nerve.

In Canada there is a Do Not Call list but charities and political parties are exempt from it. They can use it if they choose but they would have to pay a lot of money for it so most of them don't. If any of them call you can ask to be put on their internal do not call list that only lasts for a couple of years.

Thank you for your response. Our Do Not Call list is the same as yours. Unfortunately, some creeps seem to think they don't have to abide by the law. Most of the telemarketer call that I get originate in Florida, or so it seems, I've heard that some telemarketers are from foreign counties and are trying to steal from us. I wish our government would track these thieves down and prosecute them, but the thieves will always find another way to cheat us. (sigh) Meanwhile, I don't answer any calls when I can't recognize the number showing on my caller ID.
