Are you a vegetarian?

Are you a vegetarian or are there certain meats you will not eat? Why? I am a vegetarian, it started when I was 16. My mother was diagnosed with a bad heart so she made drastic changes to the diet in our house, we gave up meat (including chicken and fish) as well as salt. Through the years it has stuck and now I am marrying someone who is veg. for religious reasons. I think the similarity of our diet helps us because we eat the same foods and we can cook for each other (okay i can cook for him).

Health is wealth. If you are well off and you are septageneraian you would still feel that you are in tour youth. But that is not the case now. People are turning old at forty plus. I know this is specially because of the dist habit. This is a proven fact that those who are vegetarian have to visit the hospital lesser than those who are non vegetarian. I myself am a semi vegetarian as I occasssionaly take non veg food. Trying hard to give that up and become a full time vegetarian.

That is so not true ... i am not a vegitarian and never go to the hospital an i'm in my 50.... its all in your mind ... you mind is where your health lies .. not in your body or the food you eat .. what you think is what you are ...

Well exceptions are not rules. Nice to know that you visit hospital lesser but this your case can not be universalised. And Mind is health is partially correct.

Hello Bluehibiscus, I am not a vegetarian, but I like to eat vegetables. I must have vegetable everyday. For me, I eat all kinds of vegetables. But I can not just only eat vegetables. I still think eating some meat is important. I can not stand just for eating vegetable alone everyday. Fish is good in protein, I think there are some other meat is good for us too. As long as we eat the right amount of meat, I don;t think it will get harm to our body.

I don't eat pig. Not a religious thing. I just never was a fan of pig, and after I moved out from my parents oh so many years ago, I never ate it again. Not only am I not a fan of how pig tastes, but it's also the least health meat for you. If I could, I'd eat fish all the time, but it is too expensive here. So generally I eat chicken. Other than that I love veggies and fruit. Fruit and veggies, veggies and fruit, and I'm good for the week.

i am a non vegetarian. although i do avoid red meat (i don't like it) but when in group i don't mind red meat also. yes there are many ailments that put a restriction in your diet which gradually turns into habit. modern lifestyle has its own consequences as regards health. i believe in healthy eating and eating everything till the doctor restricts you.

Hi. I am a vegetarian by birth and in our community, we must not take Non-Veg food for any reasons and I strictly follow that one. But our family do posses a healthy life cycle and I think it is because of a healthy vegetarian diet we follow. But I eat cakes that are being made out of Eggs. Hence I can be termed as an Eggitarian. Apart from that I have never taken any Non veg food as it is against my Religion. Thanks for starting this discussion and have a great day ahead. Happy Mylotting. Cheers:-)

I'm not a vegetarian but i know someday i will be a vegetarian because i think eating less meat will keep us more healthy. There aren't many vegetarians around us and there are only a few vegetarian restaurants in our city. Well to be honest meats are so delicious and make us restore our energy . Most of us are good at cooking meats but not many people are good at cooking vegetables . I think that's one of the reasons why people enjoy meats .

well, I'm acturely not a vegetarian, and I usually eat some meat, like chicken, pork and fish. Yet, I like vegetables pretty much, and I would like to eat verious kinds of them. They could supply nutrition to us and make you feel more healthy.

Hi Blue, Of course I am a non vegetarian. But i wont used to eat non veg everyday. I took non veg foods 2 or 3 times in a month. I love vegeatables a lot more than chicken or mutton. Carrot is my most favorite. In future, I may turn more non veg because i may need more protein if i started my gym workouts again. In those time, it is a must for me to go non veg for high class protein. Have a nice time!

I am a Pure Non-Vegetarian! I just cant think of a life without non-veg! On contradictory to yours, in my family everyone has a lifespan of 80+ & I think it might be because of non-veg, provided you are taking it in the right way.

hey there. I too am veggie and have been since the age of 16. I became veggie for a couple of reasons. Firstly I don't really like the flavour of meat and also the fattiness of it either. Also I stopped eating for moral reasons. Since that time I have just continued to not eat meat. My reasons for maintaining this diet is for health and flavour reasons more than the moral ones. I do have protein substitutes and eat a lot of tofu in my diet. I feel so much healthier on a veggie diet and luckily for me my partner too is a veggie! We have the same tastes in food also so cooking in our house is very simple!
