So I'm thinking about taking a part-time job..

.. but I feel kind of bad about it because it will really only be for a few weeks until I'm ready to move. I need as much money as I can for moving expenses and start-up costs in the city, and besides my full-time job I don't really do much in the way of social activities. Would you feel bad if you took a part-time job knowing it was only going to be for a few weeks?

Do they have temporary agencies where you are? This is what they're set-up for: Temporary Income Earning Situations. You tell them what type of temp assignment you need and how long you can work and they find it for you. And when you have to discontinue you do with no hard feelings. This would be better than going through the trouble of getting hired for a real job knowing you will have to leave practically before you even get started.

Nope, unfortunately this town isn't big enough to support temp agencies. They have an employment agency, but they really just specialize in getting unemployed people full-time work. I already have a full-time job, I just thought something like a night stock job at Wal-Mart or janitorial job might be a nice way to earn some extra cash and make time go quicker.

I would feel bad, especially if they had to train me for something. But these days, you do what you can to get by. When the time comes, just say you don't drive and you got an offer for a place that's just too good to turn down and you won't be able to walk to work. You're right, you need all the money you can get--you should have some sort of a financial cushion, too, even if it's only saving $2 a week you'll have a little emergency fund. Maybe part of this part time job could be set aside for that.

I have thought about taking a part time job as well. I would be working for the holiday season. It would give me more money for the holidays as well to help pay off my debt a little quicker. I would like to be able to pay off credit cards and student loans a little more and a part time job would be able to help with that.

No, I wouldn't feel bad - go for it! You could always tell the employer you only wished to work for a few weeks, if you wanted to be totally honest. Lots of jobs have a high turnover of staff, so I'm sure people are used to it - particularly if it's a job where they're not going to be pouring a lot of money and effort into training you. If it IS a job which requires expensive training, etc., then obviously it wouldn't be very fair on the employer - and you wouldn't be there long enough to benefit from it anyway.

Hey bree! Don't feel bad! People do it all the time! And when you leave there will be someone else that is more than ready to take your place gladly! There are just too many people out of work so if you can find a part time job to make some extra money for a few weeks then go right ahead and make that extra money and don't think twice about it!
