Pay It Forward

I just got done watching this movie. I cried. I hate to cry, but when a good cause comes about and pulls the heart stings, it MEANS something to me. So pay it forward is helping a person - so they help a person. Actually you help 3 and then they help 3 more and then we multiply to create a better humanity. Okay so I collect old cell phones from poeple for the woman shelter, bake breads for the homeless shelter and volunteer to feed the homeless, but is this enough? I think about Pay it Forward and that state of non caring poeple out there and that, that alone makes me sad. So what do you do to Pay it Forward? What is you contribution to humanity? Sorry maybe I need people to say what they are involved in to gain a new faith here, but I"m saying Pay it Forward that is a wonderful idea. Do you help out? Would you help out? And how do you do it?

That's a very good movie and it totally touched me too. The idea of helping a person and paying it forward like that; what a great idea of a movie.. I also love Oprah's Big Give.. it almost teared me looking at how the less fortunate receive some forms of incentives from the participants. Great reality show..

I've never seen Oprah's Big Give, but have watched that show where they make over peoples homes or tear them down and build them a new one. I think for all the big companies it's good exposure to be supportive. I have a friend that is involved in habitat for humanity and she just loves all the time she spends with their projects.

Ahhh, I think I know that show; it's the Extreme Makeover, I think... And your friend has such a big, gorgeous heart. I love hearing/reading stories like that; of people whom are able to go the extra mile and help others, despite it not being their problem at all..

Yes Extreme Make over. Some of the stories on there are just awesome on how communities come in when they are short on time. One show, they were weren't ontime with a project so a local construction crew dropped what they were doing and just came into help. They were a day late, but just goes to show people really pulling together.

I have seen this movie a long time ago. I believe it was 2003. The theme was good. A goodness shared give a lifetime happiness. One should help another person in need. But we also have to be careful not to let the person be dependent on us. I do give my share a little. I try to agree when someone asks me a favor.

Yes it was and think it was pulled off because of great actors/actress too. A helping hand when in need is always appreciated.

I so cried watching that movie also. . And you are doing an awesome job.. I dont tend to do a lot to help other people, i dont think i have the resources right now to do that.. but if/when i can help i do. such as, someone i know had a friend who was pregnant and needed a carseat and clothing, so.. i donated all the baby stuff i had to her (even though i really want another baby and i cried to part with all the cute little outfits my daughters both wore) she needed them more then i did. afterall they where sitting in my closet.. Dont get me wrong though, i dont have a non caring attitude, i just have two small kids and a budget to follow myself at the moment. so i dont have a lot to offer anyone..

I love this movie as well. I believe I try to do this in my life. I don't know if there are siginificant events. But I try being a good person and give what I can to others. I work in a pregnancy center and I try to give advice, through life experience. I have encourage some young ladies to go back to school. I have helped others keep their utilities on. It isnt a lot, but to those people it was important. I felt good about helping them out.

hi kprofgames I think you do wonderfully wellpaying it 'forward and I am stuck here so i dont have much chance to pay it forward'but in a community of 80 some people there are people who need a helping hAnd all the time and the care givers are usually pretty busy so 'once in a while I will pull out a seat or give a push to someone in a wheelchair or help a person in a walker by getting the chair she'like for her back and positioning it so she can walke around it and slide into it. just little things but maybe they help a bit.I cannot life anyone because my left a r m will only raise about t en inches up.I have a metal and plastic shoulder joint And never got back the use of my left arm.

Hatley, thats common consideration that I think is a lost art. I think you can tell as you look at the differences between generations there is a big difference between people who generally care about the well being of others and those that look to themselves. You're not stuck there, you're doing what you can for others when you can. That makes a difference too.

I smile at everyone. I will pay for items in restaurants once in a while. I offer rides and advice. I loan and give money from time to time. When I move I will be helping in the soup kitchen. I contribute to charities. And the more I learn of the Law of Attraction the more believe I have in "Paying it Forward" Cheers.

The soup kitchens are en experience. My teen son got a whole new outlook when he helped me one year for Thanksgiving. It's nice to see younger kids get involved. I think it gives them a reality check and makes them thankful for what they have.

The tags of this discussion are so positive :) I also watched the movie and fell in love with the idea of Pay it Forward. I wish I had the courage sometimes to stop and help other people in need on the road but I am scared of running into the one person who is going to take advantage of me. I volunteer weekends at a homeless shelter/food distribution site. Also, I plan to join Habitat for Humanity this upcoming semester. :) Give on.

i like the concent of helping 3 people. is it about 3 people a day that we should help. i don't think that i can help a lot of people each day. but i do love to help people and help create of community with people who care and feel that they are responsible for their neighbors. i just feel sad when i don't see caring people around. but when i do have the chance to show i care i do so. but it is just when there is nothing much i can do that i just whisper a prayer for those people i can't help.

I think something should be added about the "Pay it Forward" movement, which I relate to being much like the Free/Open Source software movements---where people just all make contribution to the community, and there's this underying hope that those who benefit, will pass along the benefit to others. There's a page devoted to the concept of Pay it Forward itself (rather than just the moive). The pay it Forward Foundation would probably be better suited being mentioned there.

God, I love this movie. Watched this when I was in High School and it has become one of my favorite movies of all time. And I really believe in the message of the movie, if all of us would only take time to help people this world would be a better place.

this movie made me cry so hard. I think it's wonderful that you're doing all of this charity work. Where I like, there aren't really any less unfortunite people. But I do donate to charities. I think you are doing a lot to help out. if you feel as though it's not enough, then you can do more. If it's enough for you, then keep going =] It's all about what you think it right.
