You people are just awful, with your horrible racism. You are all just a bunch of haters who can't stand to see a black man in a high powered position of authority. You don't really disagree with him, no matter what you say, you just hate him because he's black. Oh how you love to criticize and put him down even when he's only been on the job for a few months! Give the man a chance! Put those white sheets away and leave Michael Steele alone!
I bet you thought this was going to be about somebody else, didn't you? Yeah, well now that I've got your attention think about this, if I am racist for disagreeing with the new president's actions, then aren't YOU racist if you don't support Michael Steele, the head of the GOP? (cough cough glass houses cough cough)

I don't support not only most black people in the government, but i don't support most white people in the government ether... It really doesn't matter what skin collor they have, if they are not doing best they can for the people, they shouldn't be in power. Unfortunatley most politicians support their own pockets more then people, so i don't support them.
must say though, you did trick me :)

Perhaps, but my state is bankrupt and he is the governor. Any questions?
He claimed that we would figure out a way to balance the budget without any new taxes and without other proposals that would cost residents money, without causing school district strikes or snatching money from the schools/education but guess what? That isn't what happened. Over 50 teachers were laid off from my district alone. I am considering seeing how expensive it will be for me to go to Staples and buy some copies so my daughter's class can have some art projects. Otherwise, her teacher would have to either not do it or pay for it out of her pocket, and I know she can't afford to pay for it all out of her pocket. College tuition is skyrocketing, which is going to really hurt those of us that cannot qualify for any financially based aid. Student loans are expensive. They canned summer school programs, which exist to both help the kids who need to make up classes and to enrich kids who are ahead. Without the programs, kids who are behind fall further back (and maybe cannot promote) and kids who counted on the programs to take a full schedule of AP courses now cannot.
It is just really sad. Without all this extra government I think we would be in the black, not in the red.

Kitty-
I don't personally think you are racist. I've seen your reasons for not liking Obama and they do not seem to have anything to do with the color of his skin. However, there are those who are racist, and who are making a huge stink because of the color of his skin. Sadly, we must admit that racism is still alive and well here in the United States. Racism has now expanded though beyond race in terms of our use of the word. Perhaps the better word to use is prejudice. We are all prejudice against something, it's almost a fundamental component of human nature. It's that part that most faiths/journeys focus on eliminating.
You know that I support Obama, and that I feel given a chance can do some really good things for America. However, I would think you would know I am not basing my decisions or thoughts just because he is a black man.
Have a wonderful Sunday friend.

People would not complain about having been accused of being racist if it hadn't been happening! It does happen! I don't know why because I certainly thought by 2009 we'd be a little bit closer to utopia but heck, people just keep letting me down. Instead of being more educated and wiser and more tolerant and less suspicious, people are illiterate and competing for darwin awards, claiming victim and calling others racist, and it just keeps goin down the tubes. Congratulations!

PS: conservatives don't like 'obamacare' for stupid reasons? What's stupid about a huge tax hike to everybody? I see nothing stupid about that. What's stupid about going from getting a same day appt by calling your doctor's office and changing that into calling a generic government switchboard that schedules you for your 'non-urgent' biopsy for suspected melanoma 6 months out at a facility 100 miles away? Both of those things are huge red flags, not yellow, red. Hasn't anybody paid attention to how care programs have failed in other countries? A lot of people are going to be sick and/or die as a result of this, people who up till this point were functioning healthy members of society.

I think there is racism, there is implied racism, and then there is cross racism.
Some conservatives manipulate it, while actually harbouring a secret racism, under the guise of being falsely accused of racism.
Tongue twister....
I hate when people say ignorant things like, "I can't even say I don't like Obamacare without being called a racist."
Who ever initiated the racist name calling? The liberals want obamacare, and the liberals tend to be very, I don't know, liberal? They love and accept all, and their first knee jerk reaction is not to say, "You are racist", but rather, "Oh,you obviously have some misconceptions about the plan. Can I answer some questions for you?"
The conservatives don't like Obama care for stupid reasons, not necessarily doing with the colour of his skin, but they pad their excuses with false anecdotes of being accused of being racist. They play victim, nicely, but it gets old fast, and we have important things to deal with.

You could also say if you are white and did not support Clarence Thomas as a Supreme Court Justice, just as the late Ted Kennedy did you are racist.
Interesting that the party of the white man will be the party that will have a black man in the Senate. I am speaking of Michael Williams for US Senator from Texas. I wonder how many white Democrats will refuse to support him.

I see that more than a few didn't get the sarcasm, but it's mainly because they can't see the humor or they would have to admit that it's as fair an accusation as the one leveled by many Obama supporters at those who disagree with Obama. It can't hit its mark, because they are unable to think that dispassionately or objectively about their own reactions and views.

I sorta lost all respect for him after the way that he dealt with that whole "Rush being the leader of the Republican party" thing. He came out strong when the comment was first blasted and I was like "Great! he's standing up to that" but that soon faded after he sorta backstepped out of his comments. I can't remember what he said but, I just remember thinking "what a whimp". If it makes you feel any better I have heard Obama say things and thought the exact same thing.

I don't think that disagreeing with the president makes you a raciest, I think it makes you a member of a different political party LOL Which the last time I looked it was ok to not agree with the president but, I remember here on mylot being called unamerican because I disagreed with Bush. So using that members logic, you're not raciest, you're unamerican LMAO What's good for the shoe and all that stuff, can't say gander since my goose my get jealous. You can check out my gander on my profile
I think that as long as you don't say something like "that stupid N" than you're not a raciest. I think that as long as you didn't vote for him because of his political views and not the color of his skin you're good LOL2 people like this

Nancy Pelosi has stated that I am unamerican, and homeland security says I'm a domestic terrorist! I never said the people who hated Bush were unamerican, nor did I say it about the war protesters, but I DID say that the people who flew to Iraq to volunteer as human shields for Saddam Hussein were idiots. I also said that Jane Fonda should have been tried for treason for what she did in Viet Nam. I stand by those statements.

That makes you a double racist just like Lamb!
My whole point of this discussion is that if it is "racist" to disagree with 0bama (or my inept governor David Paterson) then it is racist to disagree with ANY black person. What's good for the goose and the shoe on the other foot and all.
I'm not a Michael Steele fan either, but probably for different reasons. LOL I don't think that makes me a racist anymore than I think being suspicious of 0bama and his czars does.

Does anyone support Michael Steele? How many people know who he is? Could you pick him out of a line up? I don't even think I could, and I kind of know what he looks like. If you want to call people a racist for not supporting Steele, then the vast majority of the country are racist, and never even knew it. I couldn't even tell you who runs the DNC right now. Does that make me a racist as well?

Yep!
If I am not mistaken, the GOP and DNC are run by the PRESIDENT when their party has control of the whitehouse.
You've kind of missed my point entirely though, why is it that anyone who disagrees with the actions of the current president is automatically labeled a racist? By the logic of the people who call ME a racist for not supporting 0bama's very disturbing actions ANYONE who does not support the actions of ANY black person should also be a racist even if they disagree with that black person for completely NON-racial reasons.

At first I thought maybe the troll imposters were back and that it wasn't really you, so you did get me
. I am a liberal, but I am irked by the people who automatically draw out the racist card when someone disagrees with Obama. If a person has already shown racist tendencies before, then that's one thing, but just saying to everyone who disagrees with Obama "oh you just don't like him because he's black" is defeating so many purposes, for one it is not helping end racism at all, its just hypocritical and fueling it on both sides. I actually get a little bit more irked by white people who automatically say it, my brother is half black, he is not a perfect person, he has made mistakes, people disliked him in life because of it, but if he had said everytime someone didn't like him "oh they just don't like me because of my skin color", he never would have lived his life and it wouldn't have gotten him anywhere. Yes, there are racists around, I have seen them on mylot, but the majority of mylotters are not racist, they don't like Obama, or they don't like Michael Steele, but their reasons are not fueled by the color of either's skin, its the actions of each man, and that's exactly the way it should be.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply, spicysweetie, I am happy to see that you "got" the point I was trying to make.
I think when people just throw out that racism accusation willy-nilly it trivializes the term and lessens the impact of it when REAL racism rears it's ugly head (and real racism should absolutely be denounced loudly and thoroughly). It's like the fable about the boy who cried wolf, he did it so often when it wasn't true, that by the time the wolf actually DID show up, nobody would believe him.

Hatley, who am I calling nasty names? All I was doing was pointing out hte irony of some people who seem to think that you MUST be a racist if you don't support 0bama, therefore if you dare to criticize and other black person would that not make you a racist as well by their logic/
What do you mean, "I thought you were my friend"? I can't be your friend if I happen to have my own opinion about something and happen to NOT like being called a racist for simply disagreeing with the new President? Do I need to completely agree with you on everything and love 0bama in order to be your friend? I'm sorry, I can't do that, I have my own mind and my own opinions. I am willing to accept YOU even though I know you are a liberal, but if I am not good enough for YOU because I happen to NOT be a liberal, that is too bad. I am sorry you feel that way, I thought you were nice and liked me for me, but I guess I was wrong. If you only want to be friends with people who completely agree with the liberal agenda there is nothing I can do about that. It was nice getting to know you, I'm sorry that I am not good enough to be your friend because I dare to think for myself.

I don't support either one, I really support NO politicians, and I never will, publically. Yes, granted I do side with Glenn Beck when people try to call him a racist because pure and simple, he isn't. I don't even LIKE the man but he certainly isn't racist.
Now, on to the meat of the issue. I guess I appear to be racist to anybody who doesn't like that I wish we had a different president. Cool beans. Whatever. Perception is nine tenths of reality, is it not? At least the reality of morons.

first of all i guess I'm behind on the political correct terms. But I think that you are not really explaining your self like you should. i mean there are some that think exactly like you stated in the first paragraph, but then there are those who are black who think the same way about whites or any other race that is not them.

The point is that NOBODY should think the way she stated in that first paragraph! The irony (and idiocy) of the situation is that PEOPLE DO THINK THAT WAY. AND THEY BELIEVE THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT.
She was simply pointing that out.
And yes, it is not a problem solely delegated to white, it happens across the board in any race. What people need to do is completely IGNORE the fact that anybody looks any different than someone else. I know that is never going to happen but that is the answer to the whole problem. It's too bad we are all too stupid and we think too much to do that because it would be so easy.
