A bit of advice, I was also looking to learn java,but then someone reccomended python to me. It is much easier of a way to start programming because it doesn't require annoying things like static void and all that wierd syntax. Also, its enough like java that when you have gotten good, switching over will probably only require checking some cheat sheet. http://www.python.org/
