How close are you to your daughter-in-law?
My mom is civil with my sister-in-law, but not really super close, yes they talk and inter-act but you somehow see a gap.
I've asked my mom about it, she told me it's better that way. She never went too close with her mother-in-law in order to avoid stepping on the others toes.
I think it's a good thing to keep your distance. It indeed have some advantages.
What do you think?

I am not yet a mother, so I don't know how to build a relationship with my daughter in law, but believe me and I hope all mylotters here would remind me later when I have a kid and have to see them got married not to interfere their life with their family and build a good relationship to all in-laws.
Please do, because I don't want to be like someone that I knew. LOL.

I dont have a daughter-in-law yet. But I am a one, I am pretty okay with my MIL, we get along fine. She will call me and we will talk for hours at a time. We only talk about once a month thow. That is our catch up time I guess. I like to tell her how the kids are doing, her son, me, the house. Just little catching up time. I dont think that being any closer or further apart would matter much. I am happy with it just how it is. It is what it is and we have always has it this way. She cares about me and I would say she is pretty happy about me being married to her son. But I would not talk to her about issues that we have from time to time. My husb and I just keep it in our house.
