Advice needed - spell check needed urgently!

August 30, 2009 12:46pm CST
Dear mylotters, I require your advice again... I am dyslexic, and as I don't have enough posts yet I can't copy my responses from word... Which means I am going to have some very interesting spellings sooner or later! I am hoping that someone can direct me to a spell check on here - I can't be the only one that needds one??? I am using firefox if that makes any difference... Thanks :o) Misty

Latest version of firefox - as I upgraded yesterday... I just think that the web has it in for me at the moment... I shall persevere! I have stopped using IE as it is just soooo slow and has been crashing way too often for my liking.... Plus I just have had too many bad experiences with it... I even remember netscape and Janet.... now that IS going back some!

FireFox already has a built-in spell checker, don't need any add-ons or plugins (make sure you have the latest version, because I don't remember in what version this spell checker already available). But be sure to enable it by putting a check mark on "Check my spelling as I type". You can find that option on Tools Options Advance tab General tab under the Browsing section. If I'm not mistaken, that option is already turned on (checked). But if it's not, make sure you enable it *before* you open the edit box where you type your responses or discussions. If you misspell a word, that word will be underlined in red.

I have done all that ;o( I really think that this darn thing has it in for me... it will not do as it is told.... either that or it is the cruddy network provider that I am using blocking some of the functionality in order to make their connection look better than it is... which wouldn't be hard as it is PANTS! I don't recommend living miles away from broadband and having to use a shoddy microwave link!

Unfortunately Mylot does not offer a spell check. I will say though that I use Firefox and all of my misspelled words are underlined red. So there must be an option somewhere to have that done with firefox? Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Thanks for that - I have the option checked but clearly my firefox has decided that it doesn't want to communicate with mylot and wants to make me look like a "numpty" with poor spelling.... grrrrrr.... darn computers!
