What I mean is,do you rock back and forth to comfort yourself? Like when i rock my daughter when she cries it brings her comfort and stops her tears. I sometimes catch myself rocking myself when I get really upset or get really worried. My mother used to tell me that was a sign of someone being crazy. What do you think? Is rocking just a coping mechanism? Do you rock for any reason?

I have a friend that not only rocks, she hums to herself too. She says it`s very relaxing. I don`t think your crazy. You just found a way to calm down that works for you.

It doesn't work as well as I would liek during what I am going threw right now. I am just so upset even that won't help. It is nice to know what others do it too.

yeah, by my understanding, to rock one's limbs or body is a sign of upset. people relieve their nerverousness unconsiciouly by moving their body at times.

Yea that is how I see it. I rock my body when I am upset as a way to sooth myself from whatever is troubling me at the time. I have been doing that since I was 16. Sometimes I don't even realize I am doing it.
