Prison Sentence for not Getting Your Shots?

Are we headed for a dictatorship? It looks like we aren't going to have control over what we put into our own bodies. Fines and prison terms for not getting swine flu vaccine can become a reality for people in Massachusetts. How far will this idea spread and what are your opinions?

When it comes to personal freedom it does look like coercion and an assault on the rights of an individual. But then your freedom ends where larger interests of population is concerned. Public discipline demands adherence to the mandatory. If it has been determined that swine flu shot is necessary, it is not without a reason. It will spare you a lot of pain and expense and maybe guilt of spreading the pandemic. If you have to avoid it because of some reason there is a legal resource to get an exemption.

The powers that be often shove things down our throats in the interest of public good, and do so before they even completely know what they're doing. For God sake government officials are admitting they don't know how safe this solution is. So what if we kill people before we say, "oops, guess that wasn't the right answer?"

It's been shown over and over that when the gov't wants to ram something down our throats, it's generally not a good idea to accept it.

We had the very same issue with DDT, a pesticide, a long while ago and later it was found to be bad after all! I thought the FDA had wised up! From what you say it looks like a knee jerk reaction because the authorities were caught with their pants down on swine flue issue.

I think that it's disturbing. Are people going to be able to cite religion as the means to get out of this one? I rather think this is bullocks, there are things just as lethal and more contagious that flat around commonly. Why is this going to be different? What about those who are allergic...?
Stupidity kills FAR more people than this disease EVER will... Why don't we have camps and mass exodus and fines and imprisonment for THAT?!

You're absolutely right Zoey, this is very disturbing indeed. Government is all too quick to put our necks on the chopping block for their own interests. This vaccine hasn't even proven safe and in fact there have been statements to that effect but lets just pickle the population and see what happens.
I'd rather see fines for people who don't keep their friggin hands clean. That's the biggest spreader of disease, and it constantly amazes me how many people just don't give a damn about that.
