If you had $$ would you buy a boat?

Boats are great but what about all the maintenance they require, the boating fees to dock them, its like having another child! MY uncle had one and it was fun water skiing with it but I remember a lot of the time he was cleaning it and just taking care of it. If you have a family and a boat you know you have it made.

I am dreaming of having a boat of my own in the future if I can afford it especially the maintenance and docking fees. I would like to sail into different seas and explore new lands without any boundaries though its not easy as the weather is different from place to place. It will be a good adventure for me. My bf's father has a boat and we go sailing together sometimes. It would be better if me and my bf will get married in the near future then we can sail every time we wanted.

Setting sail with your lover, that is awesome and to have nothing to hinder you--yes! I always wanted be one those families to live in a boat (easier said than done right?) but actually someone told me that I could get a boat pretty affordable in the DC area. I don't know about going far off see though I think that would be like going in a plane for me. I would have to known the weather, what storms in area in fear of getting caught in storm and tossed around, phew. Sailing in calm waters is what I want, fishing. Good luck with that

It would be nice. But I'd have to have a lot more money than the purchase price! As you said, there are so many expenses in keeping them stored, docked and maintained. I think it would be better for most people to rent a boat a few times per summer if they didn't use their boat commercially or regularly for pleasure.

Im gonna have to look into that i swear i never thought about RENTing a boat but with all the foreclosures of houses going up for rent probably the best time. You know, a family friend just showed us this 5 room house he is renting (his kids dont even live with him, they visit on weekends) in this really nice neighborhood and I couldn't believe he was able to afford renting it.

I would have definitely be buying a boat but small though because as you said there are a lot of maintenance we should be doing so money will be going only in boat if ever I buy a big one so I prefer a small one just a make a short distance.

NO, if i had money i will just save it for business. there is one local show host here in the Philippines that has a yacht and he was interviewed in his own boat. yeah, i agree it takes a great deal of maintenance there.
