Canada, if you're health care is so great, leave ours alone!

Many Canadians love their health care system, and I'm glad they are happy with it. However, many hate it... but apparently the ones who love it don't care what others hate about it.. those who hate it apparently need to do their civic duty and shut up. But I have a couple of questions for Canadians who love it, and think the US system is vile and unfair. Your government spends over $1 billion a year of your tax dollars supporting the US medical system. How does it feel to know that you are funding a system that you oppose? How can you sit and tell us that your system is so much better when it can't stand on its own? When you have a system that doesn't rely on ours as a back up, then you can tell us how great it is. If our pharmaceutical companies are so vile, quit doing business with them all together. If your government doesn't want to include research and development in what they are willing to pay for meds, then quit stealing the benefits of the R&D. Make your own meds, quit sending people to our country because your system is inadequate. Prove you can make it without us.

The Canadian system is flawed, no doubt, as is all socialized health care system is. We have a shortage of doctors because they can make more money in the US, so some of them go there to work. I don't hate the Canadian system, I think it's wonderful for the less advantaged people in society that have access to health care when they need it. Now, I have no objection to a two-tiered system which we sort of already have, that is, if you can pay for it, you go to the US to get the job done quicker. If that's what people want to do, that's fine, because it lessens the burden on everyone else.

If their system is so great, why do so many CANADIANS come to the US for treatment that they can't get in a timely manner in Canada? WHERE will they go for treatment once America is saddled with the same inadequate system that forces them to come HERE for help?
