We have been having the Ganesha festival involving the immersion of the idol here over the last few days. A lot of processions and music have been evident over the last couple of weeks. The month of Ramadan is being followed here. We have St. Mary's feast here locally which brings devotees in thousands to the heart of the city. If i'm not mistaken we have an Onam festival on the 2nd of Sep.Navratri starts in the 3rd week of September and we have the Durga Puja and Dusserha towards the end of the month. Gretings for the festival in advance to all.

What is the month of Ramadan like in Dubai ? The activities of food and shopping extending late into the evening, the Shopping fest. It must be quite an experience ?

It's really good to spend the month of Ramadan here. Especially for a non-muslim, its all so different and special. The Shahari, Roza and the color, pomp and the prayers are unmatchable. All the shopping mall, hospitals and public places are decorated beautifully with the festivity be felt everywhere. It really felt great.

Happy Ramadan to you too. Uhm, Im not really sure how to extend Ramadan greetings. That was the best that I could come up with. There are no other holidays today other than Ramadan. I mean, its also a national holiday to give way to those people who would be celebrating it. So we dont have classes today. Oh, and I already mentioned about my Uncle's birthday party. Just got home from it.^_^

Saturday my acouple of friends and i attended the annual reggae on the rocks festival. Its the best event of the year in my opinion. Many international reggae bands, as well as U.S. reggae bands. For about 12 hours or more of some of the best music on the face of the earth.

Happy Ramadan to you! Our next national holiday is this coming Monday...Labor Day to honor workers of all jobs. After that will be all the fall holidays: Halloween, Thanksgiving, and then in winter, Christmas. Recently, our town just had it's annual Summer Fest, with booths of food, crafts, and lots of music, games, contests, car shows, and street dancing. It goes on for an entire weekend! Such fun! Karen
