I just can’t forget what I saw the other day when I was out buying snack at a burger chain. I was waiting in line, minding my own business, just looking around and there was this lady that caught my attention. She seems a nice lady. Smiling and dressed up casually fine. She was wearing a tee with sleeves and like me, waiting in line but beside my counter. She then reached for her purse inside her bag that was clinging on her shoulder. Her shoulders raised a bit and oh my God, I was shocked from what I saw. Her armpit is like a forest!! I know this is too much of a description but it was a mess. There are two guys waiting in line next to me and I heard them talking about the girl and they were laughing. Oh I felt embarrassed for the lady. But the experience, somehow I learned something from it. Now, I don’t regularly tweeze my underarms. Sometimes I get lazy doing it. There are days I would tweeze some but not finish both underarms. And if I knew I haven’t tweezed my underarms I don’t wear sleeveless shirts but I didn’t know that though we’re wearing tees with sleeves, our underarms sometimes shows and others might notice it. Now I am extra cautious raising my arms in public cause we don’t really know if others do really sees it. Plus, I’ll try to do the tweezing regularly.

Hehehe it seems I'm the only one here who can bear the pain of tweezing. You'll get used to it if you do it more often. It sure would hurt especially if its your first time to pluck. It doesn't grow back too fast cause when you pluck the roots are included. Shaving the hair they say makes the hair thicker. Don't know if its true.

oh my, you just put me off my breakfast...lol I know this can be different in different parts of the world, and I would really love to say its absolutely up to the person, its their body, their armpits and who is anyone else to tell them?! If you've got it flaunt it, each to their own, pits to the wind, raise your arms in pride, people....BE FREEEEE from the tyranny of the razor.... But actually I'm very shallow and just find it very grim and unattractive. I'm so ashamed. But really...shave....!

Hehehe yes, great response teaduck! I am not really meticulous about others' armpits. I don't really mind if others don't shave or tweeze. But the lady's armpit just really caught my attention and shock hehe. It was unintentional to be looking at her armpit but the view was right in front of my eyes I couldn't help but look at it. I though I saw a black forest hehe

Plucking with a tweezers ,that hurts just hearing it. I use to get all embarrassed when my relatives would come from overseas because they don't shave them eitherBut wwhat can you do when its family. I shave every other day but learned my lesson using my hubbies electric razor on them ,I was burnt for a week.He was pretty ticked to because,he claims I dulled the darn thing. I was at a big pig roast this weekend and got a bee sting under mine and am going to the sea shore in a few days. I am just praying the swelling goes down so that ,I can shave them. Then again no one will know me and its just my mom and my friend and he actually gets turned on by women with under arm hair ! He would be sorry to hear he missed this event that you witnessed.

Hi MysD -It hurts like hell to tell ya the truth. Me and the bee's coexist fine together, in my gardens everyday.It was the stupid swatters around me ,who caused them to react. You know what I mean

Yes! It does hurt when you pluck them. Sometimes when I do it the pores bleeds and I hate it when it does cause the spot turns dark in color as it heals but they get paler after sometime. So your hubby likes forest armpits hehe and you dulled his electric razor.. But that was dangerous shaving underarm hairs with electric razors. I've never done that. Why don't you try putting ice on them. Ice can help heal the swelling. So you'll look great for this weekend!

Ouch...I can't imagine tweezing under my arms. That would be very time consuming I'd think. Then again when I was a kid, I was not allowed to shave my legs. After getting caught and punished once for using dad's razor, I resorted to tweezing and I would sit in my room at night and tweeze out all my leg hairs rather than to break my mother's rules. I do shave my pits every day. I just think it is unattractive not to. Some women are into the natural look and don't shave their pits or their legs. Too each their own, I guess.

I have seen other females from different countries that do not have the habit of keeping their underarms in trim. I guess it's a case of what you are used to but I just couldn't bear the idea of not shaving. Plucking would be tedious and have never done that. I had them professionally waxed years ago and though it was a very efficient way of doing it, it was also expensive so it was back to the razor after that and I prefer that method.

Yes I have heard of the laser treatment but it's even more expensive than waxing. I'll stick with the old-fashioned razor method as that suits my pocket as well as my armpits too Oh slightly off-topic but over here there are salons and there are almost more males who go for the waxing than the females. They wax not just armpits but all over - what an expense!

Oh you've done waxing. I wanna try it too but it's out of the budget. I heard there are also lasers available and if you had that procedure the hair will not grow anymore. I don't know if I heard it right but that's what I know about lasers. The easiest and most unexpensive way is to shave or tweeze. I do the tweezing though it hurts a little.

Hi iskayz! I'm just lucky with my underarm hair as it can be counted at a glance and grows so thin that one can't even notice it as it matches the color of my skin which is fair. I never had shaved it as they say it will grow thicker if i do so. My husband used to tweez it once every 2 weeks or the lady who used to shape my eye brow threads it at least once a month. I should say, I never had a problem with my armpit as it even doesn't perspire that i don't use any deodorant. Good Day!

i shave three times a week during bath. i also have three daugthers and they are teens already and told them to shave also 3 times or twice in a week. this is hygiene. women needs to shave their armpits for it is not really lady like to see if your armpit is like a forest. we may wear tshirt but still you can see it the armpits are not well trimmed . i am not good with tweezer it makes me dizzy.

Hi ron! Doesn't shaving make underarms darker? I heard from girls but I don't know if it's true. That's why I don't shave my armpit, I'm afraid it might get darker in color. My mom also says that when we shave our armpits, other hairs that's not really underarm hairs gets shaved too so it's better to just tweeze them. But tweezing is tiring.

i guess so but i also use milk salts for my armpit. so far my childrens armpit are not darkening yet. i can not really use tweezers for it makes me feel dizzy. so i rather shave it, there is no other way for me to get rid of the hair than to shave. so i dont have much choice if it darkens my armpit.

I shave my underarms after every fortnight as the growth is very slow. I've been doing it since last many years and got so habitual that even a small hair growth irritates me. I get extra careful at public places and very well remember when I had gone to submit my son's admission form ina college. There was a long queue and space was less. Most of the peole there were standing with their hands kept against the wall for support. I was pleased to see that not a single person was stinking, all sprayed with some deo.

What do you mean by tweezing? How do you that? I usually go for shaving and it works out fine for me for three to four days if I shave once. I also go for waxing if I have time. I would like to go for full body waxing so that I don't have to find time for shaving for a period of time.

Tweezing is by plucking the hair from the skin. You know, like pulling it off. It does hurt sometimes but if you're use to it, its just fine tweezing. You also shave other parts of your body? You mean the legs too? Why do you have to do that? I mean do you have much hair on your legs that you need to shave them too?
@iskayz (5420)

Yes bonbon, it takes a long time to pluck all those hair out and it's tiring. That's why sometimes I don't get to finish both underarms. So it's only one arm that I can raise hehe.

I have never even heard of anyone tweezing their arm pit hairs, and wouldn't that take forever to do? And that would hurt my arm to keep it up that long just to tweeze my arm pit hairs. I personally shave my arm pits every two days because i can't even stand the little stubs that start to come out and then i notice me sweating under there more when i do have some type of hair under there and that to me just is uncomfortable. There are some other countries that the girls don't shave and some don't know better enough to even shave that. I believe french women don't shave their arm pits but not 100 percent of it. I believe if i was to see her out i wouldn't know what to do but just stare and think what the heck is she doing? To me it is very groose and not sure if i would have been able to stay by her long at all.

Hmmm. Well, I do tweeze my armpit hairs.. they don't hurt really.. or maybe just because I have been doing it for quite a while now.. anyway, they grow slower and thinner when you pluck instead of shave so I do that.

Yes Jenny, that's why I don't shave my underarm. My mom says the hairs that are not part of the underarm gets shaved too so once it is shaved, the hair grows larger in space. I hope you get what I mean.

I always shave my underarms, with the help of the cream or hair removal, to be easy to remove and to not feel so much pain, and to maintain their whites skin in the underarms.

It seems this is a matter of personal preference or cultural practice to me. In the US, most people are appalled by a woman who is unshaven. I hate to shave, but don't like to be hairy, either! It doesn't (or shouldn't) matter either way. I think it is very interesting that we are so judgmental of someone for not shaving off hair somewhere on the body. Think of it objectively - why is it a "requirement" or expectation? One can practice good hygiene and be clean even without shaved underarms. There are way too many really important things to worry about rather than expend energy on fretting over someone else's personal choices that do not harm anyone. That being said, I would love to have no underarm hair. I sometimes get lazy and do not shave. So what? And so that's what I think of this lady you mentioned. So what if she had underarm hair? Does it harm you in any way? Why should she be shamed? Thankfully today's world is in some ways moving away from such superficial judgments.

I strongly agree. For the ladies out there please use shave. It's invented for a purpose. It's unpleasant to look at a hairy underarm. It's nice to see underarms that is very smooth and non hairy.

It is required to keep that area clean. Plus there are guys all over who are going to tease when they notice those.So its better to tweeze and keep it as clean a spossible. when someone is lazy, should put up dress so that it is not visible.

Yeah that's what I'm more embarrassed. I don't mind much if girls would see I have underarm hairs cause it's normal for us girls but for boys seeing it? Oh no, no!! They would tease me just like what they did to the lady I saw at the burger chain.. I can hear them laughing and talking about it.

I am from India, and here we do not make a big fuss about under arm hair. Of course the younger generation, do shave and use hair remover, but most of the woman, do not shave their under arms. It is only the people who use sleeveless blouses or sleeveless T's who do it regularly. Just having hair under your arm does not mean that you are not clean or that you lack the basic hygine. It is just that,we madly follow, all the things which the westerners do, without thinking.

Hi. iskayz. I am pretty sure that she was so ashamed if she noticed the guys laughing. I think that the guys are mean to have laughed at her. Guys can be so immature at times. I agree, that when wearing sleeveless shirts it is always best to shave as much as possible. If I plan on wearing a shirt like this, I want my underarm pits shaved.

I have no idea. how ever, in my case, it can be itchy if you shaved your under arm hair.but i guess some got used to have their under arm hair. i mean, what's the point of shaving it, if it grows back
@iskayz (5420)

31 Aug 09
Hehe yes Letran, it does gets itchy when it's starting to grow back. Girls hair texture is different from men. And when we shave them it seems they get thicker and so when it starts to grow back, its like those tiny hair is poking your armpit.

This ladies who do not adores underarms hairs are out of their minds. God has created these hairs there for a reason. its a natural for ladies not to shave their armpits. hairs are there to protect the armpits from friction, while moving your arms. why people dont criticised men with full armpits hairs. I think men with hairy armpits are disgusted.

It makes me laugh reading this :D very funny. That lady just forgot about of that forest thing. But when you loved to wear sleeveless, make sure you always consider your underarm is clean and of course not dark. If you have that shameful asset then hide it. Don't be too confident to wear sexy outfit. Be responsible, check first before leaving your house. Always check yourself first not the things your bringing.
